Seat-Filling-Non-Stop-Rip-Off-Action Movie,
By Kyle Slayzar (Bismarck, ND) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rangers (DVD)
If I coud give this movie a negative star, I would. This movie also appealed to me by the box cover. I was hoping for some real gunfights like in Rogue Force or Black Hawk Down. However the only connection I could find between this movie and the US Rangers is the movie title. I counted 1/2 of all the gunfight scenes were ripped from other movies such as Navy SEALS (I think I saw Charlie Sheen in one scene) Invasion USA and others. The acting was that like the first Resident Evil game (if you've played it) totally monotone on Bernsen's behalf. It was just plain awefull. The stereotypical African American characters were just sickening. In the first scene, one of them starts talking 'ghetto' and starts comparing his equiptment to his Grandmother's 'equiptment' which was absolutly sick. And like heck the US would let some 100+ terrorists invade the US. They would stop them dead in their tracks, and on top of that, this appeared to be an ambush and the national guard still bouched it up. Yeah right! And what moron could break into the CIA headquarters with a LAW rocket launcher and launch it and get away with it. Maybe a CIA or Delta Boy could do it but a Ranger, no way. Oh, and while we're talking about Rangers. I'm no Ranger but I believe the Ranger creed is "Leave No Man Behind" as stated on the Black Hawk Down cover. Well in the first scene what do they do? They leave not only one, but two men behind. And what's funny is Bernsen talks about how he never leaves a man behind later on in the film. I can't believe I fell for buying this one. I guess they were right when they said "Don't judge a movie by it's cover." I strongly recomend NOT buying this one. If you like gunfights and military spec ops, buy Rogue Force, Black Hawk Down, Navy SEALS or Saving Private Ryan. They're a WHOLE lot better then this seat filler.

Great to Poke Fun at; otherwise a waste,

This review is from: Rangers (DVD)
Like all of the other reviewers of this film, I was attracted by a combination of the box art and the description on the back of the DVD, which promised a good action film. And thus began one of the saddest two hours of my life. The first action scene is completely lifted out of the much better film "Navy Seals" (if you look closely you can actually see Charlie Sheen in one of the scenes), which begats many bad acting moments. From here, there's a corrupt general with a blond bombshell intern, the thoroughly ineffective hero (Matt McCoy, who is best known for his astounding turn as Nick Lassard in "Police Academy 5" and . . . "Police Academy 6") who doesn't do anything, and two African-American characters who are the most blatant racial stereotypes in recent action films. Oh, and did I mention that this film also culls action scenes from "Invasion USA" and "Red Heat?" However, the film is unintentionally hilarious - and for that alone it's worth a rental, but definitely not a buy.

so bad its actually funny,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rangers (DVD)
Definitely not Blackhawck down. Some OK special effects, but the acting is really painful to watch (specially Matt McCoy firing a gun), low babe value and bad on racial stereotypes. But what is really irritating is that it is a movie about Rangers, who's motto is that no one is left behind (everyone makes it back, dead or alive). In their first raid they lose one member (whom they leave lying there on the floor) and the whole problem begins because someone who is betrayed is simply left behind...It gets worse from then on.

Rip-O-Rama,
By Patmann (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rangers (DVD)
I rented this thinking as others have, that there would be some good tactical warfare. There is none so I was disapointed, its actually kind of funny in a weird way (the lead actor looks scared 90% of the time-guess he knew that the script blows chunks) and he blinks every time he pull the trigger. Perhaps he should lay off the coffee and work at the 7-11. Bad story waek acting and generally a true ripoff.

Navy SEALs Rip Off... Literally,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rangers (DVD)
This has to be one of the worst movies I have ever scene. Scenes from "Navy SEALs" were literally taken and put into this movie. The actions seens did not even look realistic, the plot was lame, and the broadway cast of "Rent" could have done some better acting in an action flick. If you want to see a Spec Ops action flick, rent or buy Navy SEALs. Don't waste your money with this damn movie. I feel like going back to Blockbuster and demand my money back. However, it might be even more embarassing showing them that I rented this movie.

i can't believe it......,

I was attracted by the cover of this DVD. The cover, as you can see, was related to the Engulf war. However this is totally not the case..... The story of the "Rangers" is nothing about the engulf war. Moreover, there is rare gun fight in the movie. The worst thing which i can't believe is that i find many scene of the film are copied from a old movie called "navy seals".... How come !!!!!! This is the worst DVD i have ever brought.

P.U. This movie stinks!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rangers (DVD)
Don't bother to watch this. The acting stinks, special effects stink, directing stinks, story stinks, writing stinks, and the camera work stinks. Rangers change clothes between drop plane and landing, inside of drop plane looks like an office hallway with a net hung on the wall. Matt McCoy keeps getting this stunned look like he just remembered he left the baby on the car roof. The inside of the Pentagon is mauve and looks like it was filmed in an abandoned dot.com office. There are no redeeming qualities except maybe as an educational tool about how not to make a movie. I put this in the movie rental drop box so no one would see me returning it.

Not a very good movie,

This movie is a low buget movie. I bought it thinking that there was going to be a lot of action but I was quickly disapointed. The begining was ripped from Navy Seals and the ending from Invasion America. Your better off buying these movies instead of this one!

Worst Military Movie Ever,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rangers (DVD)
To be honest, this is the worst military movie I have ever seen my entire life. It is true that politic can screw up the lives of soldiers, but the whole story in this movie doesn't make any sense. As a U.S. Army ROTC cadet, this movie is disgraceful to the U.S. Army Ragners. And I cannot believe this movie is copied and pasted from other movies such as "Red Heat".
