I have read all of Bali Rai's books but without a doubt whatsoever this has to be my favourite; although not the best because each and everyone of Bali Rai's books are equal in status and just as enjoying to read.This book is engagingly direct in tone and grittingly realistic.He defines what the life of an asian boy and girl seeing each other would be with amazing clarity.An enthralling and moving story:'Rani and Sukh' has a tragic yet moving ending and is one of the very few books that you could read over and over again without getting bored.If you put it down for more than five minutes you cant resist the urge to pick it back up and finish reading it.The way Bali Rai brings in the punjab in the 1960's is spot on and the families of Rani and Sukh are more or less how asian familes are these days.The thing that makes you enjoy Rai's books so much is that he tells things how they are without any exaggerations whatsoever.I would recommend this book to anyone.It will be one of my favourite books forever.This book is a jewel in my collection and teenagers from any culture will unquestionably enjoy it as much as i have.Another thing i have to mention is the way he brought the punjabi language into the book.Being asian myself it just adds that touch of humour without offending anyone.I would reccommmend Bali Rai's books to anyone and everyone.They are all absolutley unique and highly readable.Truly AMAZING it is how a writer can be so right without being wrong.

This is an amzing book and I loved every bit of it, from the 1960's to the 20th century. I laughed and cried. Its a wonderful book with twists and turns. It was also gr8 to read as im asian too. I've gotta read more of this author's books!! So, i gez 2 sum it up: This books so totally rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
