Funny, touching, but without closure,

I did my research. They intended to make the true ending of Ranma 1/2 for OAVs, but Kitty, the company responsible for distributing Ranma 1/2, went out of business BEFORE they could make the last episode. This left me with a seriously unsettled feeling having followed the series since 1991 and not having any closure. This series is defintely full of laughs and touching moments for Ranma and Akane, but at the end of the last episode, you may find yourself looking for the manga. The questions left: Will Ranma ever become normal again? Will Akane and Ranma ever be together? This DVD boxset will NOT answer said questions.

Ranma Forever!,
This review is from: Ranma 1/2 TV Anime: Season 7 DVD Box Set (DVD)
So after all the crazy antics. All the gender/speices tranformations, the crazy martial arts tournaments and everything else under the sun it all comes down to the seventh and final season of Ranma 1/2.
This season does the series justice by giving its fans a season to remember and most importantly closure. The seventh season combines all the highs (no lows here!) of the past six seasons. The show throws in one more crazy race one more contest for a feast and all the famed side characters we have met along the way. From Picolei, to the Frog Hermit. Dr. Tofu to Colonge, the gang is all here! There is also an end to Ranma's three crazy ladies and his three arch nemesis. Still what makes this season so fantastic is the series two part finale where Ranma's mother finally arrives with a secret that dives deep into Ranma's past. You will learn the whole story that brought Ranma and his father to where they are today and the other shocker that shows us why Ranma can't go back home. Still, why would you want a show to do that. We must never dwell on the past we must only look forward and eventhough the final episode never gives us a true window towards Ranma's future you can see in his eyes that he truly has gain alot from the past 7 years. A sharp mind, and pure soul and yes true love for Akane. (Thanks for reading!) *Recomended Episode: Instruments of Destruction*

Still a great series, but what's up with the interviews?!,

This review is from: Ranma 1/2 TV Anime: Season 7 DVD Box Set (DVD)
Well, obviously if you've been collecting the entire Ranma 1/2 anime series up till now you'll no doubt buy this one. This is the last of the anime to be translated into English. (In chronological order, however, the movies come after this, then the O.A.V. series.) Anyway, the show itself maintains it's greatness, however there's one MAJOR problem, that being with the extras. They have interviews with the American voice actors, but it's in the same room where they're having the going-away party, and the backround noise is so loud it's harder than hell to hear a single word the actors are saying! Jeez, I mean, what's so hard about taking them aside into a seperate room so that the interviews can be conducted in quiet?! The whole reason I bought the Ranma Forever box set was for the voice actor interviews, and now I can barely hear what's being said! So I felt a tad bit jipped. It's because of this disapointing extra that I knock the overall rating down a star, although you do get to see what the actors (those that appear in the live-action extras, anyway,) look like. Well, anyway, that's all.

End of the series,

The final series is a good season but also a little sad.
The show keeps its funny antics and hilarious relationship between Ranma and Akane till the very end. My only problem with the 7th season is that its ending is rather dissapionting. Also, that the end doesnt stick with how the books end. But I suppose they had a reason for ending it the way they did. Its a great season, perfect for all Ranma 1/2 fans.

I have to label myself as a Ranma fan. I have seasons 1-7, the OAV set, all three movies, and the entire manga series (in Italian thought, as far as I know vol. 38 hasn't come out in English!?). So I know a bit much about Ranma 1/2. this was probably one of the best seasons. The animation is top notch, much better than the fourth season, and even the dubbing is better. One of my favorite eps is definetely the mushroom temple, because it is hilarious to hear Ranma and Akane (who usually address each other as "uncute tomboy" and "stupid pervert") call each other "honey" and "darling". Another one of my favorites is when Ranma, to avenge akane's defeat, challenges a cheerleader to win KUNO'S love (!!). In this series, Ranma and Akane seem to be getting along better, (LESS fighting and less insults). One thing though- the ending to this series was definetely NOT SATISFACTORY. It ends with Ranma meeting his mother, who wants him to be MANLY or else... but it ends with Ranma and akane running to school like an ordinary day, and they say, Bye-bye! I was left with my mouth hanginig open in disgust. Read the manga for a REAL ending! A must see for all Ranma fans!!!! Ranma+Akane, together forever!

Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys animated comedy,

The thinpack boxed set of the seventh and final season of the wildly popular Ranma 1/2 anime television series, based on the equally beloved Japanese manga by Rumiko Takahashi (whose other works include Inu-Yasha and Maison Ikkoku), is an absolute must-have for every self-professed anime fan. A lighthearted, episodic martial arts comedy with extra emphasis on the comedy, Ranma 1/2 follows the (mis)adventurous daily life of Ranma, gifted with the extraordinary ability to assimilate new martial arts techniques but afflicted with a curse that makes him transform into a girl whenever he is splashed with cold water, until he can find hot water and change back into a guy! Ranma's friends, enemies, and rivals range from his short-tempered fiancee Akane (who genuinely cares for him underneath the bluster, but whose cooking is potentially toxic to human life), to his diminutive yet lecherous master Happosai, to the fiercely antagonistic Ryoga (whose curse periodically transforms him into a small black pig) and many more. Like the series as a whole, Ranma 1/2 Season 7 includes episodes that directly adapt Takahashi's work, episodes that add extra nuance and depth to the original manga, and even some episodes created just for television. Though suggested for "older teen" audiences, Ranma 1/2 merely has comedy violence mixed with a hint of mature innuendo (and perhaps some nudity), and is certainly far more family-friendly than any number of modern PG-13 movies. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys animated comedy; since the series does not have an arc-style plot or excessive emphasis on continuity, Season 7 is just as good a jumping-on point to the wonderful world of Ranma 1/2 as Season 1. Japanese & English with English subtitles, 625 minutes, color.

Exciting and . . . meet Ranma's Mom.,

I am going to be short and concise on this one. Contained more exciting love battles to watch (as if you that didn't surprised you). This time, however, can Ranma be able to prove his love for KUNO! Yeah, you heard right! (Yak!)Also, Ranma meets his mom. But his dad doesn't seem to be happy about it. I won't spoil it for you here. Let just say that she expects her son to be "A Man Among Men" . . . Or else . . . . |
