Book Description

Rants Raves and Thoughts March 1, 2002
The Rants, Raves & Thoughts of Moammer Khadafy is the latest title in a brand new series of thoughtful, and thought-provoking titles dealing with some of the less appealing dictators and terrorists of our time. The goals and inspirations of this new series on the modern world's terrorists and dictators is to explain, in their own words and in the words of others, what makes them so ruthless. The books demonstrate what a talented group of free-thinking writers and graphic designers can do with access to a database of information and a limitless imagination about how to let the words of these powerful, psychotic people reveal who they are, what they believe and what they hope to achieve. The Rants, Raves & Thoughts of Moammer Khaday lets you step inside the head of Libya's notorious strongman, from his views on war, terrorism, Africa, women, political theory and himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new kind of silly little book at the checkout counter, July 21, 2002

This review is from: The Rants Raves and Thoughts of Moammer Khadafy: The Dictator in His Own Words and Those of Others (Rants Raves and Thoughts) (Paperback)
This strange little book packed with quotes about & from Moammar Khadafi is great. Some parts are funny, others intriguing, and some frightening, but it's all very good & well put together.

This review is from: The Rants Raves and Thoughts of Moammer Khadafy: The Dictator in His Own Words and Those of Others (Rants Raves and Thoughts) (Paperback)
For the most part, this book contains quotes from Khadafy's three-volume Green Book, an unintelligible collection of his thoughts (if they can be termed that) on history, politics, economics and life in general. Not only are they not particularly entertaining, but the graphics employed by the authors make them difficult to read.

The only entertaining thing in the book is Moammer's rather extravagant claim that, among other aspects of Arab culture that the West has stolen are the works of William Shakespeare -- his real name, it seems, was Sheik Speare. The authors suggest that Moammer said this jokingly, but I have heard from a reliable source that he was dead serious. The man does not joke.
