5.0 out of 5 stars fishing knife, October 6, 2010

I bought several of this style of Rapala knifes over time. I use them everywhere in different locations, so I keep one knife in every location. Once I showed it to my wife, she likes it so much that it became her favorite kitchen knife. The knife sharpens easy to a rasor like sharpness, I use a fine stone for sharpening. Because it is narrow and thin, it lends itself for all kinds of kitchen duties.
I sometimes also use it when fishing, where it is my outstanding partner. The folding feature makes it easy to keep in the tackle box, car, pocket, etc. I highly recomend this knife. When you order it, order two, you will not be sorry, and while you are at it, get a fine sharpening stone.
I like to add that I feel it is a very fair price for the quality it is and Amazon always deliverd very timely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get My Point?, January 20, 2011

This knife used to be marketed under the name "Normark" when I purchased a couple of them from a retail sporting goods store displaying several filet fishing knives a few years ago. As a fan of good knives, and I have top name-brand knives, but I have to say this is one of my all-time favorites. This knife is tops in the kitchen as a utility-boning-filet knife. The blade sharpens to razor-sharpness with ease and keeps its edge well. The thin, narrow blade design is excellent for getting to hard-to-reach areas when cutting chicken or turkey, yet sturdy enough to cut into cheese and vegetables without any problem. I love the rubberized feel of the soft-textured handle which keeps the knife from sliding on the countertop or sliding out of hands when wet. The price has greatly increased from its retail store appearance a few years ago, but without question, this knife is a welcome addition to my kitchen and worth every penny. I plan to purchase a few more in the near future as they make excellent garage utility knives, too. The lock-blade feature is "icing on the cake".

My husband had one and wanted one to use only for food at our RV site.
We will both enjoy the knife. Easy to clean and close for safety

5.0 out of 5 stars The best folding fillet knife, January 5, 2012

I have been using the same Rapala folding fillet knife for over 5 years now. I keep it in my fishing backpack and use it for everything from filleting bait to filleting all my fish. It works equally well on albacore, halibut, striped bass, all the way down to surf perch. The knife sharpens easily and holds an edge well. It has the right amount of flex (for me) and it is easy to clean. This is my go to knife for all my fishing trips. I just ordered another one because I'm afraid that it won't be available when mine eventually wears out.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE best knife, March 27, 2011
This review is from: Rapala5 Fishing/Camping Folding Fillet (Sports)
I bought one of these in the 80s when I lived in Alaska and used it regularly for salmon fishing. Now that I live in MA and don't fish any more, I use it in the kitchen. I absolutely love it. It sharpens beautifully and is easy to use. Sadly, mine has been sharpened so often it is wearing a little too thin and is starting to notch. I will give it a decent burial once the new one arrives! :>)

I have owned several of these knives and love them. I fillet fish with them and even have one as a kitchen knife. I paid around 8.00 each, which is a great value for this knife. The non slip handle makes it a great knife to handle.
