Book Description

June 26, 2008
Rape, in author Van Heller’s (John Stevenson’s) own words: "is a very simple story about a man with an obsession. A man searching for an ideal woman; for a satisfaction and content the orgasm seems to offer but constantly witholds." This book was an instant success for Stevenson (and the Olympia Press), leading many a soldier or naval crewman to write to Girodias, asking when the next Van Heller was coming out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A legend in the annals of one-handed reading., February 11, 2005
By
This review is from: Rape (Paperback)
Been searching for this one for years. Used copies went for $200 or more, and none of the big companies that reprinted Olympia Press titles (Grove, Blue Moon, Masquerade) had the guts to touch this one.

Stevenson, who did 12 books in all as Van Heller, started off his career with this tale, about a guy, mostly normal, ordinary, moral, who sorta gets violated, and then...

Scene after scene, the author stayed with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far better book than the title suggests ....., May 15, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Rape (Paperback)
Henry Crawford, a well off painter living in 'contemporary' London picks up a young hitchiker who, as young girls are want to be, is rebelling against her family and friends by going to visit her parents taking the risk of travelling with the unknown. Henry, of course, takes advantage of the situation and forcefully rapes the young girl resulting in his having to escape from London to the continent.

On his travels to hiding he meets up with several people and couples that allow Henry to explore his penchant for boundless mutual sexual couplings and of course his budding fetish, rape. Compared to other books this bokk does not fall into the BDSM trap where we generally get a page by page description of women getting the living daylights beat out of them. The erotica and sex in this book are well written and, under the circumstances, vicariously 'normal' and spicy!

The author is not only a master of the erotic but also a great writer as well. The book has well developed characters, an interesting and suspensefull story line that keeps the readers' attention as our 'hero' seeks out adventure while being hunted. The twists and turns are surprising ......

I have read by far too many books where the author start with the erotic couplings and then writes a story around it. These blatant are gratuitous novels don't hold together and are genearlly untenable, boring and just plain stupid.

1.0 out of 5 stars This item is PRO-rape, May 9, 2010
By
This review is from: Rape (Paperback)
This item presents rape as entertainment for pornographic purposes. Pity that Amazon, which has banned Rapelay from video games, can't also prohibit pro-rape porn from its literature listings, because it promotes violence/hate crimes against women (rape is a terrorist act under UN resolutions. It is NOT sexual entertainment).
