Thoughtful & Historic
I really enjoyed reading this story from Hawaii's past. As a journalist, the author covered this case from beginning to end with a style of writing that was reflective of that time. He taught me how a series of events, blunders, ego, mis-calculations, genius and hopeless stupidity can intersect at a point in time with tragic results for all concerned. And...

Law is not perfect
OK, but shows how investigations can go wrong, and did. A little boring, but also shows power of political people. Still happens today. T Kennedy, Vander loot

I really enjoyed reading this story from Hawaii's past. As a journalist, the author covered this case from beginning to end with a style of writing that was reflective of that time. He taught me how a series of events, blunders, ego, mis-calculations, genius and hopeless stupidity can intersect at a point in time with tragic results for all concerned.
And we in Hawaii live the consequences of this event even today. This is a side of Hawaii that all should be aware of and it is a side of Hawaii that anybody interested in our islands would benefit from. While not as detailed as "Honor Killing", it is nonetheless a valuable story written from a journalist that lived the experience. If you are like me, you will find yourself just shaking your head with the turn of each chapter. It is truly another example of how power and arrogance stepped all over our beautiful Hawaiians and others not of the "wealthy" class. A great read Aloha
