It's OK,

I didn't find this to be as terrible as some reviewers, mostly because I have come to expect DP's heroes to default to anger when they don't know any other way to express themselves. It's not pleasant to read, but I know by now that the big jerk is really in love and scared by that, and that he will come around well in the end. I guess I have read Palmer for so long that I am used to that kind of guy *from her* (if any other favorite authors tried it, I'd probably be disappointed, too). So, it could have been better, but it could have been so much worse. Her books have become like a beloved pair of old shoes, ugly and comfortable at the same time. I choose to focus on the comfort part.

don't bother if you're not desperate for something to read,

I just started on this author and I like the first book I read, Heartless. This story revolves around the hero and heroine. If you've read Lawman, then you know what J.B. and Tellie are like, except J.B. is meaner and more vicious toward Tellie and Tellie is weaker where J.B. is concern. The reason the author gave for J.B. behaviors just didn't wash with me. I mean J.B. antagonizes Tellie because she's not the passionate woman he wanted, but when he kissed her she forgot she had any pride, and that meant she's not passionate? I was tempted to forget about this book before I finished the first CD, but I persevered. After all, it's only 3 CDs, otherwise... BTW, the reader's voice is more fitted to read young adult book than this genre. She sounded like a 16 years old.

Blow hot & blow cold,

I have all of Diana Palmer books, I am a die hard fan.But J B Hammock is a pain in the butt, he lets everyone know he is a pain in the butt, but he doesn't want to be a pain in the butt. Tellie Maddox is a wishy-washy female who doesn't mind speaking her mind, but she doesn't follow through. Then Tellie lost her memory, and J B wants her to fill her mind with him. Ms Palmer also reviews her previous books and introduces us to the next books she is writing. That is getting kind of old, I like finding out about the people from earlier books but not have the next book introduced to me so fully in the book I'm reading. I like her books she wrote before she went to college and learned to write.

Good book. Read in one rainy afternoon. I have read about 15 DP books, and most of the I couldn't stop reading. This one is no different. 4 stars b/c I do agree with some of the other comments that the story could be hard to follow or that there just isn't as much drama/passion to really draw you into the book. Still recommend reading it. You won't be disappointed.

I read all the negative reviews about this book and I ordered it anyway. I have NEVER EVER read a Palmer book I didnt like or could put down. And this is the same.. I couldnt put it down. Although I can understand why some couldnt keep up, or rather didnt like the charectors. I LOVED THEM. J.B has conflicting emotions and people think Tellie is getting walked on... They are just trying so hard to fight what they feel. I do NOT see Tellie as wishy washy. I see her standing by what she says, even if a weak moment or two does arise. Who doesnt have them? I like the idea of introducing other books, or charectors that lead to books. Grange is just... lol Grange. If there were a Jacobsville. I would want to live there. What an amazing group of people, here is a town that has horrible things happen to actually morally good people. D. Palmer does it again. This is a keeper. If you never read her, you should.

ALTHOUGH I LOVE DIANA'S BOOK AND YES HER HEROES ARE ALWAYS BIG JERKS BUT JB TURNS OUT TO BE A LIAR AND CHEATER TOO WHICH REALLY DISSAPPOINTED ME. DIANA COULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH BETTER WITH THIS BOOK. TELLIE TURNS OUT TO BE A VERY WISHY-WASHY PUSHOVER WHO TAKES EVERY MEAN THING HE DOES WITH NO PROTESTS. TRUST ME AND SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR A DIFFERENT DP BOOK.
