The handle stays quite cool.

Once it starts percolating it takes very little heat to keep it going.

This coffee pot makes a great, freshly brewed pot of coffee. Coffee is not bitter or burnt tasting as I had with a former stove top percolator made by a different company. Although narrower than the smallest burner on my smooth top, that in no way affects its ability to brew a great cup of coffee. If you're looking for a consistent coffee taste, you won't be disappointed with this coffee pot. A key to keeping the glass percolator top from cracking, as I have read in other reviews, is to turn the burner down to low as soon as the water starts to boil and to wash in top rack of dishwasher or remove glass top and wash by hand.

Pot works fine, but the glass top broke after one use, probably will not "dish-washer" the glass top in future. Get the small Fits-All replacement. Be sure to turn down the heat once the percolating starts, can boil over.

A good-looking coffee pot and makes a good cup of coffee. However, a nine-cup pot actually makes only 8 cups. I really enjoy the smell of fresh coffee being made in the morning and seeing the coffee perculating through the glass top. Nonetheless, after making less than a dozen pots of coffee, while pouring coffee in a cup the glass top just broke off and tumbled into the cup. So order a couple of more glass perculator tops along with the pot because the pot is useless without it.

The stainless steel Rapid Brew 2-9 cup stovetop percolator. Welcome back to full body flavor. This is a five star winner when used properly. My method: Fill pot with water to desired level and use freshly ground perk or coarse grind coffee. Wet basket and carefully fill desired amount of coffee to use while covering the stem hole to prevent grounds from entering the stem. Make sure the glass top is not tightened (turned until it stops and then backing off ever so slightly). Heat pot with gas range on a small burner and adjust flame so it doesn't overlap the bottom and heat the sides. When a fast perk begins I reduce flame so it perks every one to two seconds for 6-8 minutes. I prefer to pour coffee through a fine strainer into my cup to catch any stray grounds and have devised a simple do it yourself method using the 10-12 cup filters to use in the basket with great success.

This is a solid built percolator. All components are easy to clean.

The glass top has given me no problems - tho I do make sure its not screwed on tightly. Its there to make sure the coffee has a place to rebound against & to allow you to see the color of the coffee. There is no reason to tighten it down all the way...and thus it hasn't cracked.

The handle stays quite cool.

The holes in the basket are smaller than other perc pots - so less grounds end up at the bottom of the pot.

Very nice!!

While this percolator has a vintage looking design which I like, it is not as pictured. The product in the photograph looks green, and the product we received was stainless. I wasn't too upset about that, as it is just aesthetics, but thought I would say something about it in case someone was expecting a green one to arrive on their doorstep.

I also noticed that it is made in China, and when we pulled the pieces out we noticed that the basket doesn't sit straight on the pump and so my husband had to bend it to make it sit right. Again, not a HUGE issue, but I think it shows poor quality control.

But, other than that, it seems to work well for us, and do it's job.

I am , quite frankly, baffled by the positive reviews. I always use a stove top percolator to make coffee but this one is awful! This lid does not stay down so, as the coffee percolates, it pops up and down allowing coffee to spill all over the stove top.

Willing to 'settle' for strong, bitter drip coffee until I was the one now making it for guests, I chose a stainless steel stovetop percolator. It was the most pleasant, tasteful, smoothest coffee ever. I'll use nothing else.
