5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to introduce yourself to O'Rappa. 1st CD, November 9, 2005
This review is from: O Rappa (Audio CD)
What you will find (And I grew up in Brasil / seen O'Rappa three times)

Is that O'Rappa has moved slowly from Reggae to Rock Reggae Rap. Truly one of the best international bands around. E Masa Cara !

Their lead composer and old drummer Marcelo Yuca was shot in the spine breaking up a fight between the police and the favela kids in Rio. Since then it is too painful to tour + he has left the band. Many folks including myself had doubts O'Rappa would remain as dynamic as they are. Truth is their new stuff is really good. Still 5 stars although everything they do deserve that recognition. Rio based socially conscience band for sure. Has a non profit (Palma da Mao) set up for Brasilian street kids. Falcao has a voice and attitude out of this world. O'Rappa in Brasil is one of the best bands that truly represent the country. Sold out shows and Fumaca all over the place. BUY everything you can and look from the MP3 on line of them with Tribo de Jah (Another great Brasilian reggae band; also all blind...wow...) performing Bob Marley's WAR in Portuguese. Check out also... Pato Fu, Both albums on Amazon " The sexual life of the savages " and " Nao wave " + IRA and Cassia Eller. AB

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong reggae, January 3, 2001

Its a strange album for those who loves roots reggae. It's a roots reggae album but with the power of a rap/funk band and social lyrics.

If you listen "Coincidencias e paixoes" song, you will love this CD.

This band has conquered its place in the brazilian scene through a miscellaneous of reggae, rap, eletronic and rock , besides the band's social help. This is a good cd for those who wanna be in peace, go to a beach and just relax.
