RAPTOR,
By Debbi (Des Moines, IA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Raptor (Paperback)
Raptor is a great book about a boy named Zack whose dad found what appears to be an actual raptor egg. On his way out of the cave he was attacked by its mother. When they found him, they thaught there had been an avalanche. His son Zack went back with his friend Uta, a native Indian, and found the egg. They took it home and that's when the trouble started, the egg hatched. This book is filled with nothing but action. It's a real thriller and I recommend this book to anyone who likes an action packed adventure. I just have to give Paul Zindel 5 stars and say that this is some of his best work.

The Raptors Revenge,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Raptor (Paperback)
Raptor Is a story about a herd of raptors that amazingly have survived to the present. Professor Norak is a paleontologist in Flaming Gorge, Utah. He goes into an abandoned cave exploring, and comes across something that would make a man a billionaire - a living raptor! After a cave-in, Professor Norak's son, Zack, a daring and courageous teenager; and his friend Uta embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Climbing the shafts of Silver Mountain, finding whole new species of animals, and most terrifying of all, discovering a herd of living raptors! This book is Thrilling and exciting. It is awesome because there is always something exhilarating going on. It's suspenseful you never know what's going to happen next. The book is full of action, from having a living raptor in your living room to encountering one out on the road in your jeep. When I asked my brother about the book he said "I found it cool because lots of cool and almost deadly events happened in this book." This book is kind of scary and inappropriate for little kids. But the book is great for older kids. The scary parts keep you on the edge of yours eat, and keeps the story going. There is an exception to this, my little brother. He loved it; when I asked him about the bad parts he couldn't think of any.

I liked this book because it was not afraid to be gory and scary. I don't like many book, but I really liked this one. Kids who are not big readers will like Paul Zindel, my favorite author.

Good for laughs, at least. . .,

Perhaps I may be outside this book's target audience (being a nineteen year-old college dropout with an interest in dinosaurs as animals, not bloodthirsty killing machines, and books written by someone with a degree of actual talent), but I'm barely into the second chapter and I already hate it. Please, if you value your brain, do not read this book. If you crave good dino-fiction, read Dinotopia Lost by Alan Dean Foster, Jurassic Park by Micheal Crichton, ANYTHING but this. If all you want is blood and gore, then by all means, pick this one up.

By Tristan Dennings (Michigan, Frankenmuth, USA) - See all my reviews

This book was the best book I ever read. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat through the hole book because it is so interesting and you never know what is going to happen next. If you like monster books and mysterey books you will love this book. The book is about a college professer who takes his students on a trip to a place to dig up dinosaur bones. At first he thinks his parents are playing a joke on him, but boy he was wrong. Actually a real raptor is alive and the college professer and his students need to stop it. tofind out full details and if the college professer and his students stops the raptor or not, get the book and read it. Trust me you will not regret it. When you finish that book, read all the other Paul Zindel books because there all wicked awsome!!!!!!!!!

a monster of a book!,
By Joe Blow (Hamilton, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Raptor (Paperback)
I am a senior in high school and I like to read adventure. That's why I chose Raptor. The cover with its picture of a slobbering fang-toothed, neon green-eyed, hungry-looking dinosaur was the first thing that grabbed my attention. Then I read the summary on the back: "...slowly, the black back stroked Zack's face with a claw...Zack's body contorted, his high-pitched shrieking filling the air, as he felt the claw rising up through his chin..." After reading that, I was hooked.
The book kind of disappointed me, though. I found myself getting mad at some of the characters for their actions. It was kind of like when in those hack-n-slash movies and the actors do stupid things to get themselves killed. Of course, it was exactly these actions which keep the story interesting. I would recommend this book to children 12 and older. It is a good read for teenagers, too, because it is well-written, and I don't usually like to read!

Raptors are on the lose!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Raptor (Paperback)
This is the second book I have read of Paul Zindel. I like this book a lot because it has good science fiction and gore. Zack's father is a preson who studies dinosaurs and one day is injured in a rock slide. Zack and his friend Uta, decide to go back in the cave and see what caused the rockslide. They find out that the cave is home to raptors that are supposed to be extinct. They encounter mutant wolves and a unusually looking raptor. i liked the parts with when the raptors killed Eric and when Zack and Uta confront the mutant wolves. This is one of Paul Zindel's best books.

You Thought They Were Extinct?!?,
By Joe Herrick (Iowa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Raptor (Paperback)
This book is about a boy named Zach and a girl named Uta. Zach's dad is a paleontologist and he discovers an egg. A giant raptor comes after him and he gets caught up in a rockslide. He tells Zach to go find his raptor egg. Zach and Uta find his egg and bring it back to his house. It finally hatches. Later the mama raptor comes and destroys Zach's house and takes the baby raptor. Zach loved the baby dino that he went back into Silver Mountain and looks for the raptor. He discovers that there is a whole herd of raptors. He finds the head raptor, but it is twice the size of the normal raptors. ...I think this is a great book that's why I gave it 5 stars.
