More About the Author

Isobelle Cate is a woman who wears different masks. Mother-writer, wife-professional, scholar-novelist. Currently living in Manchester, she has been drawn to the little known, the secret stories, about the people and the nations: the English, the Irish, the Scots, the Welsh, and those who are now part of these nations whatever their origins. Her vision and passion are fuelled by her interest and background in history and paradoxically, shaped by growing up in a clan steeped in lore, loyalty, and legend.

Isobelle is intrigued by forces that simmer beneath the surface of these cultures, the hidden passions, unsaid desires, and yearnings unfulfilled.

The imagery the author evokes is the BEST I've read in a long time.
You are able to feel the setting - environment. You experience the love, the anguish, the fight.

This is not your typical story. It is the love story of Finn and Eirene - their journey of love in the world of the immortal and mortal. Their plight and dealings with evil.

You NEED to read this - experience for yourself the descriptive qualities that this book offers. The plot is out of this world!!!

*There is a war going on that has been going on for centuries between the immortals. They all carry the blood of human, vampire and werewolf, but they are on opposite sides of the scales. The Cynn Cruors just want to be left alone and not tregonized they want to blend in with the humans not harm them. However the Scatha Cruor want to use the humans and turn them into slaves.
Finn Qualtrough is a cynn cruor and his life's mission is to destroy the head of the scatha cruor (Dac) as he has killed a lot of people including Finns parents.

Eirene Spence is a genius where computers are concerned, however she suffers from insomnia and so goes out walking late at night, her favorite route is through the park where she gets attacked by 3 Scutha Cruor and Finn has to save her.

Coincidentally Dac is one of Eirene's clients and she tells the cynn cruor where to find him and so now dac wants her dead.

What happens when Finn discovers Eirene discovers he is her mate?? Will Finn finally get to destroy Dac??

This is a great book about finding the balance between avenging the death of your loved ones and at the same time finding your soul mate. I loved this book especially Eirene as she thought she was 'normal' and could not understand why certain things were happening and then when she meets Finn she couldn't understand what he could possibly want with her.

I felt quite sorry for Finn as he lost his parents at a young age and spent his whole life trying to find Dac and kill him, until he meets Eirenne. Lets just say that some of the scenes are HOT!!!

This makes you believe in finding your soul mate.

I loved this book and would definitely recommend this to others.

Mama’s Thoughts:

As part of this spotlight I had the pleasure of reading Rapture at Midnight. This beautifully written, haunting story will stick to you long after it ends. Finn and Eirene have a smoldering chemistry that will heat up your blood and make you wish you were there. Lots of perilous action and suspense keep this book going at a break-neck pace, and you’ll just have to burn your fingertips to keep up! I always love a good PNR, and this is in the realms of the greats- Christine Feehan, Lara Adrian and others. Sometimes you unwittingly get caught in the middle of a war you don’t even know about, and it’s tough to make the best of such circumstances. It was nice to see Eirene keep her sense of humor throughout her ideal. I enjoyed her character immensely! As warned this is definitely an adults only affair, so not intended for younger audiences. 4.5 stars of pure, sexy fun!

The first book I read about Cruors was The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton right after it was released about 3 years ago. I thought WOW what a unique idea, and then for a long time I couldn't find anything else about Cruor. Then I recently saw this book promoted by that author and figured I would give it a go. Isobelle Cate did well with it, too! I wonder if these are the only two authors who have written about vampires as Cruor or if there are more books out there like this one. Maybe Misses Hamilton has started a trend! Looking forward to more by these authors and to finding more books about Cruor and will be reading more of this series by Isobelle Cate as well.

For centuries, Finn Qualtrough has been looking for the leader of the Scatha Cruor and the killer of his parents. His search leads him to Eirene, a computer intellectual, hacker, and his soul mate. But when the Scatha becomes dangerously close to him and the woman he loves, Finn must risk it all to save her.

Isobelle Cate introduces a new breed of paranormal creatures in Rapture at Midnight. Werewolf, vampire, human warriors? That's a whirlwind of power and sexiness. And boy, was the mercury boiling from the heat of this story. My favorite part, though, had to be the great amount of thought the author put into the history of the Cynn Cruor. I enjoyed learning about how such a powerful ancient army and its enemy survived to present day.

Even though this story was filled with sex, I felt the amount of it was overwhelming and, at times, distracting. I think it hindered the plot and characters' relationship instead of enhancing them. It was just too much. Once the characters finished their sexual fling, they would start again. And again. Since the main characters met, sex seemed to be their only interactions. It was difficult to believe their love, and so, it was hard to connect with them as characters. Besides being told about their feelings and their mystical Cynn Cruor mating ritual, Eirene and Finn's relationship didn't feel like love. I just wished more focus was put on the Cynn Cruor and Eirene and Finn's interactions, rather than their intimate moments.

Also, when the evil villain, Dac Valerian, the head of the Scatha Cruor, came into the picture fully, his part was very brief. The action was brief. Since the Cynn and Scatha Cruor aspects were my favorite part of the story, I really want to see more of that in the plot.
