Great authors and four very different stories, March 19, 2008
This review is from: Rapture, Volume 1 [ The Prosecutor's Paramour: Sentinel's Hunger : The Enchantress : A Devil's Bargain ] (Paperback)
Rapture volume one is most defintely a lesson in variety, but all the stores are hot, hot, and hotter. For futuristic, there is no one like Lara Santiago to dish up lots of action and..well, great sex. Gracie McKeever writes edgy, sexy fantasy with a unique twist and this story is all her. Morgan Ashbury can summon up fantastic men and we-can-all-relate-to heroines, and in this book, she gives them a little help from some legendary friends. Historial author Emma Wildes goes all bad boy with an exiled hero intent on wicked vengeance and the woman that throws him completely off course once she decides he needs redemption.
All in all, a great collection of intriguing, well-written stories.

4 Blue Ribbons for THE PROSECUTOR'S PARAMOUR!, January 23, 2009
This review is from: Rapture, Volume 1 [ The Prosecutor's Paramour: Sentinel's Hunger : The Enchantress : A Devil's Bargain ] (Paperback)
Readers will be treated to the back story behind Lara Santiago's popular series, The Wives Tales. Zachary Valetta is a successful prosecutor and Evie Marsh is the enforcer sent in to spy on him.
In 2075, the new ruling government of the United States, the fundamental Tiberius Group is imposing new laws right and left. One of the first enforced is the law about marriage and family. Women are no longer going to be allowed some freedoms and marriage auctions for troubled and/or problem women are becoming the norm. Evie Marsh, an enforcer has been sent in to spy on a highly successful and prominent lawyer named Zachary Valetta. She is to somehow search and find any and all illegal dealings concerning this man and then turn her information over to her superiors. She didn't plan on falling in love with him.
Zachary Valetta refuses to allow the Tiberius Group to have any say so over when and who he marries. Happily single despite the fact that sex outside of marriage is now frowned upon, Zachary is happy to find out that a promotion he is wanting is more than likely tied in to whether or not he is a married man. When he meets the beautiful Evie Marsh at a dinner party, her striking beauty makes him take a step back and rethink his choices.
Lara Santiago captured my attention with this series from book one, The Miner's Wife. Anxious to see where the plot and premise of THE PROSECUTOR'S PARAMOUR would lead, I happily settled down for a nice read. Zachary Valetta was dreamy with a capital `D' and believe it or not, loyal. That is, he was loyal to the people he cared about. His desire for Evie threatened his control and once that happened there was no going back; he had to have her and any cost. And without giving spoilers, the cost could have been great.
A sincerely excellent prequel to her series, THE PROSECUTOR'S PARAMOUR gives readers the back story as to how the Tiberius Group came into power. I found questions answered and enjoyed seeing some familiar characters as well. Lara Santiago just keeps whetting my appetite for more!
