Stylized illustrations bring this classic fairytale to life,
This review is from: Rapunzel (Paperback)
For as long as I can remember, I've loved fairy tales [Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen etc] and I'm now passing on my love of fairy tales to my preschooler. In this version of Rapunzel, translated from the original Brothers Grimm by Anthea Bell, the captivating story of the girl with the long flowing hair is brought alive by the gorgeous full-color illustrations by Dorothee Duntze. There is an element of whimsy to the illustrations here, for example Rapunzel's room in the tower when she was a little girl - her chair is a giant pear, and her bed is a giant snail. These creative imaginings enhance the story and increase its appeal to young readers. Readers will not only lose themselves in the text but the illustrations merit discussion too. Highly recommended!
