I'm currently on a cheap old movie collection kick and have recently discovered several collections that have been released by Millbrook Entertainment, which, in the past I have had spotty success with. From what I have gathered they have purchased the film library of Crown International Pictures from Brentwood Entertainment, another low-rate video company that from what I understand went bankrupt.

So far I have received two of the seven collections. The first was Drive-In Cult Classics - 8 Movie Set and the second is this one, Rare Cult Cinema. I bought this mainly to see William Shatner in The Kidnapping of the President, which I remember seeing ages ago. I enjoyed it as much as I had remembered.

Remember, Crown International was a very low-budget producer of quickie films that were shown mostly as triple features at the drive-in. What you missed as far as quality was made up for in quantity that would keep you in your car or on your car sometimes until the very late hours of the evening.

What I found out is there was a lot more to this collection than I had imagined. Although most of the films are not shown in wide-screen, the print quality is extremely good for this type of collection. Often when you buy these you end up watching choppy, scratched, jumpy films that have seen their better days. For the most part these films, and also the other collection that I mentioned earlier, are clean and clear.

There were a couple of films on this collection that really surprised me. African Safari, a documentary, was an excellent film about that continent in 1968. Another film, Road To Nashville, a pseudo documentary from 1967 shows many of the best stars in country music at the time.

I got this on Amazon for less than 6 dollars and thought it was worth every penny.

Crown International Pictures is primarily known for low budget flicks, grindhouse cinema, biker films, exploitation films, and B-movie drive in fare. This collection is a showcase of what CIP was all about,

This 12 film collection has a little bit of every type of B fare that you would see in a drive from the 60's thru the 90's. some star vehicles and some with unknowns. What makes this collection entertaining is its a mish-mash of everything.

Three of the best (and my favorites) on this collection are the Kidnapping of the President, Deathrow Gameshow and Road to Nashville. President has an all star cast (Hal Holbrook, William Shatner, Ava Gardner and Van Johnson) in a cat and mouse poltical thriller. Gameshow is a satire in a similar vein to The Running Man [Blu-ray]. Nashville is an all star country concert with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.

There are other stars in this best of Drive-in Noir like Susan (Rich Man, Poor Man: The Complete Collection) Blakely, Adam West, Glenn Ford, and the Rifleman's Johnny Crawford.

There is a genre for anyone is this get it

I finally Purchased this Mill Creek Entertainment multi-pack from Amazon. If one has several of these multi-packs from Mill Creek Entertainment, as I do, than one should have MANY of these already. But Many of these, if not all of these films are from the now defunct Crown International Pictures.
But while these films might not be rare as indicated by the title of the Multipack, they are definately "Cult Classics". I have seen most of them already. But as many already know, I LOVE my cheese! And many of these are pretty cheesy! I will be enjoying this one for a while!

For many years people have been aware that Liar's Moon has 2 different endings and this edition of the film has the tragic ending in case people are seeking it out.If you are searching for the happy ending it can be found on this set.

I hope this helps fans of this film seek out and find the version they want.
No spoiling of the film's ending intended...but let's be realistic it has been around for a long time for people not to know about it.

This set does offer decent variety of genres, as has been said here. However, the transfer of THE YOUNG GRADUATES only "unsqueezes" to widescreen on some TVs. For example, it looked fine on my widescreen high-def TV monitor, but wouldn't unsqueeze on my other TV, an older Sony Trinitron model. So, a word of caution: if you want to see the film letterboxed, you'll probably need a newer TV or monitor.

The previous release of THE YOUNG GRADUATES didn't suffer from that inconsistency. The widescreen 1:78-1 image played fine on all TVs. However, that release was somewhat hard to find, available only via mail order. It went out of print fairly quickly. That release was a box set entitled DRIVE-IN CULT CLASSICS VOL. 4, from the defunct BCI label.

The film itself is a wonderfully entertaining story of a young graduate (the beautiful Patricia Wymer) and her adventures in early-1970's society. She encounters an older teacher, hippies, bikers, and other relics of the era. It's dated now, but does provide a fun time capsule of its era.

I was particularly interested in obtaining a copy of Indian Paint with Johnny Crawford and Jay Silverheels (very difficult to find). Included in this set are The Kidnapping of the President, with William Shatner, and Santee, with Glenn Ford. Very good movies at a very affordable price.

I bought this primarily for one film! But I am very happy with the other campy flicks on this DVD!

I bought this set for the movie "THE KIDNAPPING OF THE PRESIDENT" which was excellent, that movie is hard to find at a good price, which makes this set worthwhile, my only complaint is, there are two double sided DVD's both in separate paper sleeves, that lay on top of each other in the plastic case, so I give 5 stars for the movies and take away one star for how the disc's were packaged.
