5.0 out of 5 stars A message about the price of this CD
This CD is currently out of print. Apparently, Motown Records doesn't see the need to re-issue it. Therefore, the reason for the prices being so high is that the product is relatively scarce and you are buying from private sellers.

If you want to see this back in print at a reasonable price try writing Motown Records with your request. While you're at it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, Wrong Price
Loved this when it came out. I had the lp and wore it out. Looking for it today caused severe shock because of price. Guess I can live without it.

If you want to see this back in print at a reasonable price try writing Motown Records with your request. While you're at it you might want to request that "Get Ready", "Ecology" and the never issued on CD "One World" get equal treatments.

People that were into Rare Earth really dug them big time. They were some cool cats and they could really play. And while they weren't prolific songwriters, they may be the only band who could play your song better than you could.

Pete is still touring with a band called the "Classic Rock All-Stars" and sounds as good as ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Live performances the best, January 7, 2005

There are some bands and performers who come accross much better live then their studio version, these include; The Stones, Grand Funk Railroad, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, some of Frank Zappa. Now, RARE EARTH (LIVE)is one of these bands, I had it in vinyl back in the 70's but lost it and as a result (as with Neil Young's "On The Beach" which is now available) I have been on a periodic search of this perticular album. Will somebody make this available, please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, crazy price, January 28, 2005

I have been hankering after this great album on CD for a long time now. Imagine my surprise to suddenly find out that it is available. Surprise turned to shock when I saw the price. Does the company that produces this CD not realise that are people all around the world (including South Africa where I live) who are very keen on this album? At this stage though, it is only the very wealthy that can afford it.

5.0 out of 5 stars JAMMED TOGETHER, December 10, 2010

RARE EARTH-IN CONCERT: An awesome concert capsule of MOTOWN's only white self-contained rockin' funk act RARE EARTH, who had such an authentic lock on down 'n dirty RNB, most listeners assumed they were black like the Temptations or the Four Tops. This was largely due to powerhouse belter/drummer PETER RIVERA's gritty vocal chops, and the well-honed psychedelic soul instrumentation of the other players. Their song cover choices were spot-on as well, from their classic 20 minute recasting of the Temptations' GET READY (which gives 'em all a chance to stretch out and solo) to tantilizin' throwdowns of WHAT'D I SAY and I KNOW I'M LOSING YOU. All the expected chestnuts, from the proud anthem I JUST WANNA CELEBRATE to the jazzy BORN TO WANDER (featuring GIL BRIDGES' tasty woodwinds) get the patented Rare Earth treatment here, making IN CONCERT a worthy souvenir of this jam band's immense raw power in a live setting.

RATING: FIVE BIG BROTHERS

5.0 out of 5 stars Celebrate!, February 3, 2008

This review is from: Rare Earth in Concert (Audio CD)
There is nothing quite like hearing a band in their prime, and Rare Earth was firing on all cylinders here. Since not many R&B/Funk bands made recordings of their live concerts in the 70's, this is a good way to revisit those days. There are only a few live albums i.e., EWF(Gratitude)and AWB(Person to Person) from that period, but most of those dynamite performances from all those great 70's bands (like Mandrill) were never recorded! These songs are too good to never be heard live again. If you don't have this in your collection, get it soon ( I ripped my vinyl to CD-R). This is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars it just doesn't get any better than this, January 19, 2005
This review is from: Rare Earth in Concert (Audio CD)
this is without a doubt the best live classic rock album of all time. one reviewer declared " nice to be with you" must be the $ 175.00 song as you can get all the other songs elsewhere. he stands corrected. the 23 minute plus live version of "get ready" is the grand prize on this disc.it stands alone at the summit of great live recorded songs. searched for years for this disc and it is well worth all the searching and the price

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best live albums ever !, October 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Rare Earth in Concert (Audio CD)
No doubt one of the best live albums ever. Don't understand why this can not be made available in CD format at a reasonable price. Album length is about 80 minutes and the original was a double LP with a unique 'backpack' sleeve.

I was fortunate enough to see Rare Earth in concert a few times and they were one of the best jam bands around. They captured their spirit on this album. I have this on vinyl and after seeing the price of the cd i guess that's the way it's gonna stay unless they do bring down the price. Glad to see others out there that appreciate them as much as i do.

As I was growing up in the 70's, this was my favorite album. With great songs throughout, this is a true dynamite collection. "I Know I'm Loaing You" is a brilliant song. This live version of "Big Brother" with Pete Rivera telling the fans to get out of the water, and that start of the song, if that doesn't get your motor running, check your pulse.
Buy it!!!!!
P.S. Thank you M. Howard for turning me on to this group.

5.0 out of 5 stars rare earth, greatest motown band, March 25, 2003

i used to have this cd but lost it.i rate this the 4th geatest live recording of all time. someone please tell motown to reissue this cd. rare earth to me was the greatest motown band ever.these guys were funkier than parliament. only the meters top them. barry gordy must have lost his mind when a bunch of white and latino guys came to his office and presented him with thier demo of bad funky jams that was thier trademark.i grew up in africa, in the 70's if you are having a party and you did'nt play rare earth, you don't have a party. in case you wanted to know my number 1,2,& 3 greatest live cds of all time?,-they are 1.black magic night by osibisa 2.band of gypys-hendrix 3. babylon by bus-bob marley & the wailers. another revelation- my biggest cultural chock when i came to the u.s was that i knew more about american music than the average american.
