Editorial Reviews

With its fast-paced action sequences and lavish period-piece production design the Hong Kong film ELIMINATION PURSUIT is one of the forgotten and rarely seen classics of old-school kung fu cinema. Directed by acclaimed action choreographer Chang Peng the high-flying extravaganza follows a lone swordsman as he wanders the countryside hunting down a rogue martial-arts master.System Requirements:Run Time: 80 minsFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: SPORTS/GAMES/MIXED MARTIAL ARTS Rating: NR UPC: 787364677894

First off, I have to point out that this DVD has bad picture quality, but it is an AWESOME MOVIE!!! I am surprised I haven't seen any comments by anybody else on the Rarescope picture quality. On this site that is, plenty of people are complaining. All of Rarescope's movies have been watchable and 'Showdown at the Cottonmill' was by far the worst in terms of picture quality. Well, 'Elimination Pursuit' is the worst yet. One thing people have to keep in mind is that these films have been lost for decades and these are the only film prints left. Rarescope had actually decided not to release this movie because the condition is so bad, but people like me begged and begged to see it. Well, they delivered. If you have seen the Rarescope trailers and '3 Famous Constables' caught your eye, well here it is. They just decided to go with an alternate title. You may have noticed on the trailers that this film has noticeable print damage and a purple flame throughout the scene they show. It is actually even worse than that. I think it is tinted a different color on every scene. So anyways, if you only like remastered movies, this may not be for you. If you REALLY want to see it, then I can assure you it is at least watchable. It will be the only way you will ever be able to see it and I have seen much worse.

Similar to other Rarescope titles like 'Lost Swordship' and 'Face Behind the Mask', this is a wuxia set in the martial world. 2 constables team up to take down the Devil gang while Roc Tien Peng just goes around killing a lot of people. They usually attack him first, but it always turns out to be a bad decision. I really don't want to give away anything whatsoever. It is so good that I would feel horrible if you experienced it any other way than I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Roc Tien scores again March 7, 2008
Verified Purchase
Roc Tien does a stellor job here as a lone dark swordsman with no attachment to anything or any body, his life depends on how far his sword can carry him. Roc uses a Japanese type of sword fighting technique in this film that works well with the demeaner of his character.
