Some of Heep's best work, February 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Rarities From the Bronze Age (Audio CD)
This is a mixture of non-album B-sides (and a few A-sides of single-only releases), and edited single versions of Heep standards like "Gypsy" and "Return to Fantasy". The inclusion of the edited versions is pointless. However, the rest of this material is a must have for anyone who likes Uriah Heep or 70's garage rock in general. Some of these tracks: "Why", "Time Will Come", "Crime of Passion", "Cheater", "Think It Over", and "Playing for Time", are as good as anything Heep ever did. There is also a lot of hopelessly grade-B stuff here like "My Joanna Needs Tuning" and "Been Hurt", but still interesting listening anyway as an example of how this band evolved. Note: Most of these tracks are now included as bonus tracks on some of the CD re-releases, so buying this may be redundant.
