4.0 out of 5 stars For musicians only!
This album is not an actual Jason Becker Album, sorry to diappoint any Jason fans. However, it is a great look into the way Becker used to write and think when he was younger, on and off the road. There are actually no finished songs in this album - Only thoughts and ideas. But still, to a musician, this is a rare look into another musician's soul, into another...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good flowing album and interesting
I cannot agree with the reviewers that think this record is crap, but niether can I agree with the Hendrix association! But I like it. It actually shows that this guy really enjoyed playing the guitar and could adapt to many different methods of playing. Jason's career probably went as high as it could in the rock world when he play with Roth. It would be interesting...

There are actually no finished songs in this album - Only thoughts and ideas. But still, to a musician, this is a rare look into another musician's soul, into another musician's thoughts. Every musician in the world has his stack of unused ideas, whether on tape whether on paper, and it's allways interesting to listen to them. Especially if that musician just happens to be the one and the only Jason Becker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Man!, July 8, 2000
This review is from: Raspberry Jams (Audio CD)
I have ben playing guitar for about 4 years and I have been looking for some other guitar players besides Greg Howe, Vai, and others like that and I went looking and I found this CD and man I was completly blown away .Just listening to this cd for 5 min. you will get hooked. I have already bought his other cd and one with Marty is on the way.He has so much harmony, speed, and style and his music is so beautiful. When i found out about ALS, and that he cant play any more it made me almost cry this has never happend to me before. He will always be my favorite guitar player. Go buy this cd and any others with him you will like what you hear. (I hope you will play again Jason and i hope you get better).Peace out Yall and enjoy the sweet tunes.

Bill

4.0 out of 5 stars genius interrupted by disease..., April 28, 2000

OK, so Jason's music ain't Bach, but I'll tell you what, I've played music for over 15 years, and of all the Mozart,Bach,Beethoven I have heard, Jason's music has the same understanding and genius to it. I was a little dissapointed by the sound quality of a few tracks, but the insight into how his brain works is there..He is as good a composer as he is/was a musician. When I am really down in the dumps Jason's music is comming out of my speakers before the old classic dead guys (whom I have a great respect for..) And when Jason and Marty Friedman get together...dont even get me started ! The only reason Bach didn't play electric guitar is he didn't have one ! Have a good one !

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice flowing guitar album from the boy wonder of the 80s, June 19, 2004

I like Jason Becker's guitar work and it's good that he has released this record for his fans. Since Jason was struck with this evil desease I haven't heard any player quite as talented since. Jason's career was very short lived, definately a Van Halen of his time in my opinion, purely for his versitility around the fret board. This CD delivers a mixture of what I would describe as experimental guitar work. I think the track names must have been made up after a few joints though! But for anybody into the guitar I am sure they will find this is an interesting and enjoyable album to listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great guitar album, May 30, 2005
This review is from: Raspberry Jams (Audio CD)
I don't understand where some of these reviews are coming from. Jason Becker was one of the best guitarists of his genre and to get a place in Roth's bands rests my case. I think it is great to hear out-takes from the studio of Jason's experiminetal edge. There are some great tracks on this record and what makes them different is that they have not been released for commercial venture. Jason Becker was a trus artist of his time and in the upsurge of space guitaring in the Eighties he out played many around. I only hope for him and his family that one day they find a cure for this desease that ruined his life, because what happened to Jason at the turning point of an awesome career just wasn't fair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest guitar player ever, April 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Raspberry Jams (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of becker since I bought pereptual burn like 5 years ago. I remember I heard my friend's cd and I ran home, ordered the cd, and didnt sleep until i got it. Recently I got ahold of a video of Becker playing a clinic at AIM and I was blown away! I have seen tons of guitar players and none are nearly as good as Becker. The only one that comes pretty close techniqe-wise is Greg Howe, but Becker is still my favorite. My jaw dropped to the floor as I watched this 18 year old kid blast through some of the most complicated runs I have ever seen, and it sounded awesome! At the same time, no words can give justice to the amount of emotion and taste in his playing; you have to hear it for yourself. Buy this cd! Don't miss the opportunity to hear what the world's greatest guitar was playing before tragedy took his most amazing gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jason will ALWAYS rock in my mind!!!, October 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Raspberry Jams (Audio CD)
Well, I haven't even officially heard Rasberry Jams yet (because it hasn't been RELEASED here!!), but through my 13 years of guitar playing, I believe Jason would have become the hands-down most talented guitar player of the 90's, if it weren't for ALS.. Anyway, I hope this album is in the vein of Perpetual..... Jason, whether or not you ever get to pick up another guitar, you will always ROCK in my head!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Turn that stuff up, December 15, 1999
This review is from: Raspberry Jams (Audio CD)
Jason is the man. I've been a fan of Jason for years and when I learned of Raspberry Jams it was like music to my ears. The only thing that stunk about it was that I had to wait about a week to get it. But when I turned on the player I noticed the wait was worth it. For a little over an hour I listened to the CD and noticed that not only was it good but in my opinion is Jason's best work ever. This CD has enough variety that if just about anyone listened to it they would find one song they liked at the least! So buy this CD and turn that stuff up.
