An Amazing 8-Bit Reincarnation of the Arcade Treasure!, December 8, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Rastan - Sega Master System (Video Game)
The great thing about later generation Sega Master System titles is that Sega began to pour it's heart and soul into quality products, and we ended up with a nice collection of 16 to 8-bit port, and they turned out wonderfully!
Rastan is no exception. As you might expect, this is far from a pixel perfect re-production of it's Arcade big brother. Rather this is an artistic re-imagining of the game, and it pulls it off quite exceptionally. The graphics look very good compared to many of the 8-bit titles of the day, the sound track, while lacking the resonance of the Arcade, still sounded mystic and intimidating as it should!
The levels are the same as the Arcade in some spots, but then as you go on, you'll see that there have been a number of alterations which work out well enough that I don't mind playing this back to back with the Arcade original, just to experience that variety.
Of course the controls are Rastan, as are the weapons, enemies, etc.
If you are a fan of the series, or of the classic Castlevania style games, then you need this in your private collection, along side of Kensieden!
