My son is 7 and has every Ratchet and Clank game. He loves these action figures. The accessory pieces are not as durable as I would like, but overall, they are pretty durable. I think the price is a little high for the value, though.

This review is from: Ratchet & Clank Series 1: Armored Ratchet with Mr. Zurkon Action Figure (Toy)
I love Ratchet and Clank -- in fact, I own all six PS2/PS3 games that have been released. I also love adding action figures to my desk to celebrate my favorite games, so I was delighted when I saw that there would be Ratchet and Clank action figures available. Double points for one featuring Mr. Zurkon!
Unfortunately, this toy broke almost immediately upon leaving its packaging. After I snapped the Clank backpack to Ratchet the toy broke off. It did so in a way that it was impossible to just snap back in as the peg itself broke off into Ratchet's back. Yay! I super glued it. As of today, the super glue broke, Mr. Zurkon has also snapped off his hole and will no longer return to the pack, and Ratchet for some reason can no longer hold his gun. I now have an action figure in 4 incompatible pieces crumpled onto my desk. I highly regret this purchase and will think twice before buying any action figures from DC again. Update: The super glue is now removing the paint from the action figure. Full of win!

This review is from: Ratchet & Clank Series 1: Armored Ratchet with Mr. Zurkon Action Figure (Toy)
Alright, here's the dealio. I was at Toys R Us one day and found this figure for 10 dollars. That's the lowest price I've ever found this toy at, so I jumped on it. Because it only cost 10 dollars, I don't think I was quite as upset with the broken pieces as a lot of other people.
Looking at the figure in the package, I could see some purple pieces of plastic laying at the bottom of the box. I figured out that those were shoulder pads(of sorts) that had fallen off Ratchet's shoulders. I decided I could easily snap them back into place, or glue them if I had to. I also noticed Clank's antenna was also sitting near the bottom of the box Again, I figured I could probably glue it back on. It was a small, thin piece, so I was okay with the prospect of not being able to make it stay glued. I got it home and opened him up. The detail of the figures were great. Ratchet's head, arm and leg joints were tight and that was great. However, after snapping the shoulder pads back on, I found that they got in the way of Ratchet being able to move his arms as much as he could without them. They kept popping off so I said "(explicit word here) it", and threw them in the trash. Clank's antenna wouldn't stay glued to his head, so again, I threw it in the trash. Ratchet comes with a...gun/blaster of sorts. I have played the first game and through research I've found this suit he's in is from another game. So I'm not familiar with this weapon(and let's be honest, there are SO many weapons). However, it also had a piece that would not stay. I got my super glue out again and fixed the problem. The only issue with it now is that it's too heavy for Ratchet to hold! I don't know if that's because of the added weight from the super glue, but bottom line is, Ratchet cannot hold his weapon without his arm dropping down to his side. If I want to pose him looking like he's going to shoot, I can forget it. The color on the gun is terrible as well. There's a section that's green, and it looks like a child took a green marker over some white plastic and colored over it. Awful. Reading all this, you may be thinking that I don't enjoy this figure, or that it's not worth your money. I'll be honest, if I had spent $20+ on this figure I'd probably be really upset. But I've had the figure for a few months now and the figures themselves, both Ratchet and Clank, seem to really hold up well. It's the other bits and pieces of them and the accessory that are junk. But hey, I set out to find a Ratchet figure, and I did just that. If you are trying to buy this for a child, I'd say do it at your own risk. You'll probably get some pieces that need fixing/altering/throwing away, but if the child is easy to please and is more gentle with toys than many kids, I'd say it's a good idea. My nephew hasn't played with my Ratchet for a few months, but he was 5 when he did and the figure was fine after every time he got played with. The figures have a great likeness to their game counterparts, and they look cool. I'd give it a pass, even though there are certainly better figures out there. In December of 2010, I believe, DC is releasing a second wave of Ratchet and Clank figures. You could always wait(or look into those, if you're reading this after 2010), because I think there's a good chance they will make them more durable and better quality due to complaints on this first wave.
