Ratchet & Clank Series 1: Ratchet with Transforming Clank Action Figure

My 10 year old son has all the Ratchet and Clank games and has been waiting for products for years. They appear to be made well and have a lot of moving parts, but might not hold up to really rough playing. The Clank can be attached to the back of Ratchet too. My son loves computers and Legos, and usually doesn't play with action figures of any kind, but he's done some playing with these, and I notice he moves them around the house so they're in the same room with him. He thinks they're 'super-cool'. The price is high for what you get if these were normal action figures, but since you can't find any products for this line of games, it was well worth the price to us.

Well, I don't have any other figures to compare it to, but all I really wanted was to display this one on a shelf. As far as that goes, it looks great. The figure has no knees, which makes it a little odd to position, and Ratchet's gloves hinder most of the elbow movement, but it has transformed from pixels to plastic rather well. There is a hexagonal hole in the bottom of one of the feet, which makes you think there might have been some sort of a stand planned, but there isn't one in the box.

My son is 9 years old and when he found out about these action figures he was so excited. He saved up his money and we ordered them online. When they arrived they looked great. The features, color, I mean really cool looking action fugures. Well, while we were taking them out of the box, one of Ratchets shoulder armor broke off, then a little piece of Clanks back bolt broke off. I have been repairing these pieces bit by bit. There are so many conponets of these toy and small easily breakable pieces, that really they are made to look at and not play with. These toys by no means have the strenght that Rachet posses in his video games. My child is not rough with any of his toys and has been sadly disappointment with the lasting quality. Money not wishly spent, he feels. What a disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ratchet & Clank Series 1 is a perfect addition to my action figure collection. Both look exactly the way they appear in their video games which can't be said for all action figures. I have them standing on my collection display shelf right next to Kratos, God of War....what a contrast!! I love these two little collectibles.

Great sculpt. The likeness to Ratchet is spot on. The accessories are thought out and will certainly appeal to fans of the game. However, the construction of the accessories is flimsy at best. The ratchet and gun accessory broke when attempting to place them in Ratchet's hand - within the first hour of opening this action figure. It's really a shame too, the accessories for this figure are really cool.
Clank's jaw fell off too.

My son has been a Ratchet and Clank fan since he was four, and being that he is now nine, he has been a fan of this series for over half of his time here on this planet. Many years ago I picked up the original Ratchet and Clank game for the ancient and hallowed PS2 and gave it a spin. It was an incredibly fun and entertaining game.

It really surprises me that it took so long for someone to make a toy out of this character. When my son and I found out that they were coming out after 4 years or so after we first encountered the tale of the lombax, we were excited.

GOOD:
The paint applications on this figure are incredible. I looked all over and could not find, a single mistake. Being that this figure is made by DC Direct I was not surprised. The sculpt on the figure and the accessories is incredible, they feel like they just popped out of the game. The choice of accessories is really awesome too. Ratchet comes with a gun ( I can't remember the name of it but it shoots lava balls or something), his signature wrench weapon, and his eternal companion the one and only Clank. Let me highlight that the Clank figure is incredibly detailed, and has an awesome way to attach on to Ratchet's back. The little Clank figure also features retractable legs, moving arms, and a moving jaw, and is overall just an awesome addition to this figure.

BAD:
The price. This figure retails at $19.99. I understand that he is DC Direct and all, but come on. I feel like $14.99 would have been a fair price for this figure. His articulation is quite lacking. Being that he is DC Direct, this is also understandable, but I was expecting more articulation. His head spins, he has ball-jointed shoulders, cut thighs, no knee articulation, and spinning ankles. In the games Ratchet is jumping and hoping around like a mad-lombax, and it would have been nice to been given a wider variety of poses to put him in, in lieu of this. Even though the durability on Ratchet is pretty good, Clank is rather fragile so be careful with him

Summary:
It is awesome to finally have Ratchet and Clank action figures, that's a fact. I feel DC Direct has done a pretty good job on this figure and the whole line in general. I am pleased to see the characters they have made and am pleased to see a new wave coming out with new figures. My only complaint is the "adult collector" feel of this figure, and I say that being an adult collector. In my opinion this figure should have been made for kids, and DC Direct was a poor choice as a producer for this figure. That being said my kids loved this figure regardless. If you are a die-hard Ratchet and Clank fan this is a must. If not, this is a fun figure for any collection, but if you decide to pass it up, so be it.

I purchased this for my nephews 6th birthday (he is a HUGE Ratchet and Clank fan) although the toy doesnt talk or do anything he still LOVED it!

This particular set may be a little more expensive than the others in the series but that's probably because of all the extra attention to detail this particular one has. Though the other figures in this series may be very good too, this one's got the best paint and sculpt. This one's my personal favorite.

If you're a big fan of the game series, these are well worth the money. Even if you don't want the whole figure series, this is the one to get!

It's probably not meant for kids to play with but it's fairly durable and could probably still be just fine.
