Thx Blackfoot, for being a solid band and entertainer!,
This review is from: Rattlesnake Rock N Roll: Best of Blackfoot (Ocrd) (Audio CD)
Every red-blooded American that was into rock music or just Southern Rock should know at least two Blackfoot songs: "Highway Song" and "Train, Train". That is not to discourage any rock fan, this is just to instill that in America, Blackfoot was not normally connected to being associated with their own songs.
For me my first live experience with this band was during a fund raiser in the Norfolk area for the US Navy back in the early 90s. For $5 any active Navy member could go to The Boathouse to see Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet. Food and drink were relatively cheap and the music was so good. It was a good time had by all. Blackfoot was relatively unknown by the Molly Hatchet fans that came to see their southern rockers but Blackfoot awoke those rock fans with their live performance and bringing home "Train, Train" and "Highway Song" to these Molly fans. The Hatchet heads were enlighten and when Molly teamed up with Blackfoot for a combo before Molly took the stage the people there were on their feet cheering the line-up. Blackfoot played more then their known "hits" and frankly I thought they sounded better that Molly Hackett this round. If you are into rock of any kind, give Blackfoot a listen and enjoy their own brand of rock and roll that should rank up there with the other classic rockers.

Great Blackfoot Best-Of, But Missing A Few Great Songs,
By
This review is from: Rattlesnake Rock N Roll: Best of Blackfoot (Ocrd) (Audio CD)
RATTLESNAKE ROCK & ROLL: THE BEST OF BLACKFOOT is a great anthology of Blackfoot's recorded work. However, it unfortunately doesn't include anything from NO RESERVATIONS or SIOGO, both of which should have been at least touched on, and misses lots of great stuff from STRIKES, TOMCATTIN', MARAUDER, and FLYIN' HIGH as well. However, this is still the best collection of this band's work (other than the original albums) you can find, at least until a double-CD set comes out.

I love Blackfoot's unique sound, because it's a sort of hard rock/bluesy southern metal sound that is highlighted by their signature song, HIGHWAY SONG, which is known to many fans as the "Other Freebird." Rick Medlocke, who's the band's frontman, is an exceptional guitarist, and his work is immaculate and bold. He was an original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, but left to form Blackfoot. Blackfoot released some very successful albums, such as Strikes and Tomcattin', which featured some of the best southern rock songs ever. Highway Song, Train Train, Fly Away, Wishing Well, Every Man Should Know (Queenie) and Left Turn on a Red Light showcase their versatility without compromising their sound. Rattlesnake Rock and Roll: The Best of Blackfoot is a must-have for any fan of southern rock. If you like Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special and Molly Hatchett, then Blackfoot is for you. If you love Freebird, then you'll certainly love Highway Song, as the two are remarkably similar. The last track on the CD, Guitar Slingers Song and Dance, is a nice change of pace, and shows a more mature side to the band. 9/10

This c d is an excellent intro to Blackfoot. All the best songs are here with a few I didn't remember. After I'd listened to the whole disc I found myself thinking this band is not really much like Lynryd Sknryd or the ABB-they rock a little harder most of the time-not too much Country rock here!

rock n roll at its best,
This review is from: Rattlesnake Rock N Roll: Best of Blackfoot (Ocrd) (Audio CD)
plain and simple blackfoot was one of the best rock groups to come out of the southern rock era in the early 70s along with lynyrd skynyrd and molly hatchet.all the tracks here including their big hits "highway song" and "train and train" with its unmistakable harmonica intro are here and remastered with great sound and i recommend this cd as a great intro to a great rock n roll band.
