4.0 out of 5 stars It kept me turning the pages, January 28, 2012
Raul irritated me sometimes, but then Penny puts up w/ a lot from him. He would disrespect her, call her degrading names and act as though she was some kind of brainless wonder! Yes, it all stems back to something from his past - doesn't it always?

After putting up w/ a lot of stuff from his former fiancée as well as Raul constant inability to trust her, Penny finally decides to cut her losses. Of course, Raul told her to go and made a smarmy comment to boot. Yet, conveniently when he comes across her again he acts as though she walked away from him. IIRC he told her to go. Alright, he finds out he has a child and he is NOT happy, understandable. Especially given the way he discovered the presence of his child! So what does this guy do: he lures her into a false sense of security, drugs her, kidnaps her and the child, lies to her . . . but hey the ends justify the means. He very easily lies to her about passports and such and of course she believes him. He tells her that he is shocked that she believed that as she knows he wouldn't break the law - nope but he would lie to her repeatedly. I guess it is legal to put a substance in someone else's drink and serve it up to them unknowingly so that you can kidnap them and their child. Hhhhmmm . . . sounds like a place I do NOT want to visit. His name isn't even on the child's birth certificate so I would like to know how he so easily got the child's name on his passport.

I could NOT understand why this OW continually showed up and did the things that she did. I couldn't understand why in the world Raul put up w/ her crud either. He acts like the OW is so pure and virtuous w/ not a mean bone in her body. It has to all be Penny's fault. . . ALWAYS!! Raul said they were partners and he lets others believe she is really his "companion" and they treat her as such! Raul said he knew OW all his life - she would not deliberately insult anyone. So I guess leaving him at that altar is not deliberately insulting anyone? Raul tells Penny that the OW and her father are his oldest friends and he doesn't want them insulted - I guess Penny should have slept w/ the Old man so he wouldn't be insulted too! LOL!

Penny always went w/ the flow w/ Raul and she stays on this course through `til the end of the story. If you miss the looks he gives her then you will totally hate him, but they are there. Perhaps he shouldn't speak w/ his mouth and do the talking w/ his eyes! This was an angsty, interesting read for me, and it kept me entertained!

This review is from: Raul'S Revenge (Harlequin Presents) (Paperback)
Back Cover description: Raul's reason for revenge...Penny seized her opportunity to save the love she and Raul shared, and proposed marriage-but he turned her down flat! The misunderstandings of the past few weeks had left their mark and now Raul had got his revenge; he seemed to think Penny was nothing but a gold-digging tramp.
But of all the gifts Raul had given Penny, none could match the one she took with her when she walked away from their relationship. Unbeknownst to Raul, she was carrying his child!

This book got three stars because I really didn't like the beginning to the story, I almost didn't finish it. There was something about the first part of the plot that made Penny seem cheap. And the part about the bracelet was strange, I was glad she left it behind her. When the author moves the story past where Penny walks out, the whole plot gets better. Raul's character gets some depth and you find out what the bracelet means. Try it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating hero and heroine; typo's, typo's, typo's..., August 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The worst thing about the book was the typo's. I hate typo's in books that I purchase and it angers me to the core to pay the cover price of a book written in the 1990's that is full of typo's. Really Kindle...who is editing these books?

You will love to hate the hero in this book. I was so angry with him until the end.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dog!, July 15, 2005
This review is from: Raul'S Revenge (Harlequin Presents) (Paperback)
When I read a romance book, it is for relaxation and enjoyment.

This is one book that will tense the muscles and make one scream foul. The man in this one is stupid and mean! Stupid men tend to be mean and mean men tend to be stupid. The man is not even a hero. He is not nice at all. He is physically and psychologically abusive. The girl is just as stupid and a coward. This is like a Lynne Graham novel called "The Banker's Convenient Wife." Don't bother unless you are into pain.
