fairly good romantic suspense.......,
This review is from: The Raven Master (Silhouette Dreamscapes) (Paperback)
this short novel in the Silhouette Dreamscapes line is about a lonely divorcee', Janine, a newcomer to a small Oregon town. Janine supports herself by running a boardinghouse in an old Victorian home. A mysterious house fire has claimed the life of another single townswoman. The day after the fire, a mysterious man, Quinn, arrives at Janine's, looking to rent a room. What follows is a fairly well written romantic suspense story. While I was impressed by this authors erudite writing thoughout the book didn't meet my expectations in several other ways.
First, even though the story is in the Dreamscapes line, there was very little supernatural element to it. While the story was good, it was more modern Gothic than paranormal, so not what I was expecting. With a title like The Raven Master, as well as the "sci fi" cover, that was a little disappointing. Finally, the wrap up to the story was a bit naive and implausible. Without giving away the plot, the author had several secondary characters behaving 360 degrees differently, which in turn made the two main characters come off badly in the end. With it's flaws, I'd only suggest this book to romantic suspense or gothic fans as an average tale. 3 stars.
