I'm trying hard to read this book but the characters are so stupidly implausible that I don't know if I can bother to continue.

We have the typical rich, handsome tycoon who runs into (literally) the typical gorgeous woman in a hotel hallway. The minute he sees her he starts begging her to marry him. Oh, shut up! He talks her into having a drink, then...

He talks her into having a drink, then spends the whole evening getting drunk (trying to impress her) while simultaneously begging her to marry him. When he wakes up the next morning (in her apartment), he immediately begins begging her to marry him again. She's so amused and continues to play hard to get, and I'm so bored out of my mind at this point that I can't believe I paid for this!

Good luck.

I think three stars is generous for this book, which I couldn't even finish, but I love Kay Hooper so I'm giving an extra star just as a fan. This is one of her early books that is being re-released and let's just say, she has improved in her writing a great deal over time. None of the characters in this book were at all believable and there wasn't enough background to make a real story. I'm a real fan of this author but this book was not for me.

Although the interaction between the characters is a bit dated, the book does contain the classic strong heroine and danger elements that make her books so much fun.

Don't expect anything else in this plot that a love story. Everything else is just to fulfil the love story. So don't try to check if what happened in this book is true or not, especially the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bridget's Review, June 4, 2010
This review is from: Raven on the Wing (Mass Market Paperback)
Have you ever fallen for a man that you can't let yourself have because if you did the consequences would be dire? That's what is going on in Raven's life. She isn't exactly who she says she is. When she meets Josh the sparks fly immediately. Trying to keep Josh safe, Raven denies her attraction to him. But Josh has friends in high places and finds out who she really is. Will he embrace the person she truly is and offer is help or will he decide to live the rest of his life without the woman he's in love with?

This is the first Kay Hooper book I have read and now I am a die-hard-fan! Absolutely intriguing!
