Book Description

January 1, 1999
"Under raging storm clouds, a lone figure stands upon the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. Lightning splits the sky, its cold light revealing a tall form wrapped in a billowing cape of shadows. Another flash exposes a face full of power and madness, contorted by a tragedy darker than the night. Far below, a party of adventurers has entered his dread domain. He smiles. Another lightning bolt rips through the night, but the figure is gone. Only a howling wind fills the midnight air. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner - and you're invited! Originally published in 1985, this classic adventure for four to eight characters of levels 5 to 7 mixes elements of gothic horror with AD&D fantasy for a unique experience. Updated to 2nd Edition, Ravenloft features a haunted castle, gypsy fortunetellers, a tragic back story, and a vampire who is as powerful and intelligent as he is frightening - a menace worthy of the bravest adventuring party!"

More About the Author

`Dragonlance' originators Tracy and Laura Hickman have been publishing game designs and stories together for over thirtytwo years - nearly as long as their marriage - and thus started them both on a life of adventure and imagination.
Tracy is a NYT Best-Selling co-author (with Margaret Weis) of many Dragonlance novels including the original `Dragonlance Chronicles', `Dragonlance Legends', `Rose of the Prophet" and "Darksword" trilogies as well as the seven-book "Deathgate Cycle".
Tracy and Laura are remembered together for their role-playing game designs in `Dragonlance' and the `Oasis of the White Palm' series but are perhaps best known for their classic adventure, the original `Ravenloft.' 5.0 out of 5 stars The finest adventure from the golden age of RPGs, May 15, 2011
This review is from: Ravenloft: 25th Silver Anniversary Ed. Adventure (AD&D, 2nd Edition) (Paperback)
Ah, seeing this 25th anniversary edition brings back a lot of memories of huddling up with in the middle of the night with my roommates in high school. Ravenloft was such a fun and crucial part of my life back then, it is hard to see that the line has almost completely disappeared from memory. Well this is the updated edition that started it all for me; Ravenloft, or at is was better known during its release was known as Module 16. The original was such a breath of fresh air in a medium populated by cookie cutter Sauron wannabes; this was the first time a bad guy was not only scary, but actually really fun to role-play for a Dungeon Master. This was the original scary castle romp, and actually it welcomed replaying the adventure since the module was set up so the magic items were scattered in different rooms each adventure. The TSR 25th anniversary edition updated the stats for Strahd (the main bad guy) and adjusted the rules for AD&D 2nd edition rules. It comes with all the magnificent original castle maps and great pictures by Clyde Caldwell, if you are the slightest bit interested in old school role-playing games you owe it to yourself to get this classic adventure
