Richard Chylton is a man out of time. Appointed as a keep in the Tower of London during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, he hates what he sees happening to innocents accused of witchcraft. His mother is a midwife, always vulnerable to accusations, and his best friend as a child could make magick. Thorn loved to play tricks to entertain Richard, unknowing what she was and how dangerous her powers could be. She is a natural witch from a long line of powerful women, spirited away for her own safety, to relatives in Ireland when she was five and Richard was eight. But they had a connection that lasted through the years.
Their dreams of each other were really visions and when Thorn realizes that Richard is in danger she returns to London fully aware of the danger that might await her. What is the cost of true love?
Can it really live forever?

5.0 out of 5 stars I understand the love and devotion now February 2, 2014

I loved this novella. I was suckered into predicting there would be a very romantic ending......well, it was not what I was expecting but a GREAT ending and yes, very romantic! I loved that I got so involved with this story and then I was done....darn! There was a bit of history and the information about the Tower of London, well, I just hadn't thought about what took place there. That was difficult to read with the second keeper, but I guess necessary! Jessica has done it again. She reels me in......and bam! I'm in love with another character she has created. Richard........Thanks, Jessica.

I was able to read the book free. Ok that being said... stop reading reviews you are wasting precious time that you could use reading the book! But if you insist.... if your topics of interests include the following then this book is for you: England, History, Queens, witches, and twists n turns. Ok, I've said too much already.... oops
