Fabulous,
By
This review is from: Ravensburger Labyrinth (Toy)
This is a fabulous game! First of all, the game mechanic is so simple, anyone can learn how to play it in less than a minute. So whenever I have friends who aren't into boardgaming over at my house, I pull this one out.
At the beginning of the game, you deal out treasure cards. The aim of the players is to reach the tile on which the treasure is printed. You do this by pushing tiles. As the players push the tiles the layout of the labyrinth changes. You can play this game with two to four players. With two players, it's more strategic since you have to worry about getting your treasures and preventing the other player from getting his. With larger number of players, the game becomes more chaotic and exciting because the labyrinth will be completely different by the time you get your turn again. Basically, you should get this game. The simple gameplay combined with a high level of replayability makes this a must-have boardgame.

'Mazing,
This review is from: Ravensburger Labyrinth (Toy)
This strategy game is one of the best birthday presents my children ever got. You can play once or several times, and never grow tired of the game, as each set of mazes is different than the last.
Playing is a fabulous way to spend an afternoon or evening with your children. The game requires non-verbal skill and logic, but is fun as heck. Very often, the children do better than the grown-ups. Highly recommended.

Good game,
This review is from: Ravensburger Labyrinth (Toy)
We love this game. It makes you think, so it keeps us all interested. This is one of the few games that we all enjoy playing together because it is challenging enough for our overachieving 8-year old, and also interesting for our 6-year old. It is difficult to find games that do all that these days, because the 6-year old is refusing to learn how to read well enough to be able to enjoy "older kid" games, and we have all become bored with the "little kid" games. This game requires no reading, which (obviously) is a plus for us right now.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ravensburger Labyrinth (Toy)
I have never written a review -- I don't ever want to take the time to do it, but I simply must give my two cents worth on this one. I am buying a couple for gifts -- it is AMAZING. I am a game-a-holic and fortunately I have two boys (ages 7 and 9) who play games with me. This is by far one of our favorites. They like it for the "treasure hunt" factor... I like it for the strategy and the durability. It definitely requires some strategy to find your way to your destination, but my 7 year old can beat me MANY times -- and I'm trying my best! I think it is simply brilliant, and I HIGHLY recommend it. The only negative thing I can think of is that because the board folds in half, it is tricky to slide the pieces over the "hump" the fold creates. This is a minor drawback -- not worth skipping the purchase. I can't say enough great things about this one. There. I've written a review.

The reason for all the 5 star reviews,
By Dave Millman "davemill" (San Jose, CA USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

This game deserves all of the 5 star reviews. The concept is simple, the execution is nearly flawless, the possibilities are endless.
Each player's task is to work their way around the board to find treasures. The only problem is, the paths around the board shift on every move. You might be one space from your treasure at the end of your turn, then find yourself on the other side of the board on the next turn. Conversely, there is often a path from one corner of the board to the diagonal opposite corner for a clever player to discover. With three or more players, cooperation comes into play. "I'll help you if you help me," becomes a strategy to beat another player who has gotten ahead. This can get very interesting, as players can use their move to block other players instead of getting themselves closer to their goal. Overall, a family winner.

Great Family Fun,

Our family really likes this game. It is a great strategy game. You have to think ahead and try to plan moves to help yourself but not others. It really keeps you thinking and the kids love it when they make a move that really messes up Mom or Dad. It is not so hard however, that a younger child of 8 or 9 would get frustrated.

Never gets old--Makes a FABULOUS gift!,

We've had this game for over 20 years, and always love to play it. It's simple to learn, yet never boring. It combines elements of both chance and strategy, so you get to use your mind, but you can also enjoy socializing with your "playmates". My husband and I played it tonight with a couple whom we have known for years, and they loved it. It took us about 25 or 30 minutes tonight, which was just right to cap off our evening after eating at a German restaurant. (I told them it's a German game, but you don't need to know the language; in fact, I am a lover of word-games, and Labyrinth trumps all my other games.) Right after the game, our friends started making a list of people to whom they want to give the game. So I quickly located it on the Amazing Amazon and e-mailed the link to them. And our friends are right--it is the perfect gift. I had forgotten that I had sent one to my in-laws in California until they recently told me that it was still their favorite game. Labyrinth really has "Ausdauer"--the pieces are very sturdy, and it never looses it's appeal. (I covered the outside of my box with clear Contact plastic to add durability). Get Labyrinth to have a fun time with your friends; give Labyrinth to make a memorable gift for anyone.

Excellent family game,
By

I first purchased a used version of this game in Germany for my family and have since recommended the English translation to all my friends. This game has all the necessary elements of a great family game:
1. The theme is fun: who doesn't like treasure hunts? Granted, you might have a daughter like mine who insists on getting the princess, no matter who has it 2. The production values are very good. My copy, although used, is still in great shape 3 years later. The path cards are a good thick cardboard and all the pictures have kept their color very well. The treasure cards have even resisted rough handling at my daughter's school. 3. Game play is very adaptable: kids can play with grownups without dumbing down the game, re-playability is high, since every single turn changes the map (another huge advantage, you *always* affect the overall game during your turn) and beginners can play with experienced players on reasonably level footage. DD was 6 when I got his game and it's still fun for her at 9. A very good beginner's game for families that are not used to gaming, since games can be adapted to run very quickly (use fewer treasure cards). Experienced gamers will find a quick, fun game suitable for relaxing your brain after an intense round of "Puerto Rico".

We enjoyed the game, but found some of the rules frustrating. After altering some of the strict rules, our 5 & 11-year-olds liked it much better. The grown ups found it more challenging than the kids! It is NOT a relaxing game, but definately has the addiction power to return to the challenge and it will get played a lot. That is, after we get over our Blokus addiction as we bought Blokus at the same time and that is hands down our family favorite.

Not just for 8-14yrs!,
By Hekate "vjb3" (Greenville, SC USA) - See all my reviews

I found this game at a Discovery Toys party and bought it not for my kids, but for my husband and I (at least until they're old enough to play too!). We played a quick demonstration round and it was a blast. Always a little bit different, and you can play at many different "levels" (it's easy to play, but you can add as much strategy and competitiveness as you want to make it more challenging). My only complaint was that things didn't want to stay lined up well... you need a nice flat surface (playing on a fluffy carpet probably won't work well). I also wonder about getting replacement pieces, since you really need all of them to play. I can't wait for Christmas so we finally get to play it!
