My daughter received this for her 4th birthday and we have played it everyday since! My older daughter, 7, loves it as well! There is no reading involved, just good ole fashion fun! Each player gets 3 chickens with different hats to play with. The 2 dice have pictures of hats and the red rooster. You roll the dice and move your chickens according to the pictures on the dice. The first one to the top, wins. There is some strategy involved as to how/where you place your chickens. And of course when you get the rooster, you get to chuck an egg, marble, at your opponents! But watchout you don't hit yourself in the process! The white marble slides down a short slide that moves at the top of the game and you get to take aim! Of course my kids love this part the most! Overall, this is a great, fun game that we can all play. It even travels with us! Highly recommend.

Got this for my kids for Christmas because Amazon was selling at a price I couldn't pass up. My boys are 2 and 4. This game is beyond the 2-yr-old, but the 4-yr-old LOVES it. And, frankly, I love it, too.
No reading required and the rules are simple. But winning is not guaranteed for older/wiser parents. There is enough chance involved to make the game exciting and unpredictable. You move chickens up levels to reach the rooster. Occasionally a player will launch an egg from the rooster at the apex with the goal of knocking over another player's chicken(s) so they have to start at the bottom again. The fun part - the ball is not quite round so you're never quite sure where it will go! We played a couple of games the day after Christmas and my 4-yr-old beat me fair and square and we laughed all the way through the game. This is not typical for him - he gets frustrated easily with some other games, but this one was so goofy that we both just laughed about our mishaps. That said, this is not an "educational" game, but, well, it's a game, so I don't mind. We have about 12 games at home for 5 to 6-yr-old group and this is our favorite for having fun. Highly recommended.

I bought Chuck-it-Chicken and "Cat and Mouse" for Christmas and out of the 12 games my 5 year old received these two are her favorites. I appreciate that the games are adorable and of obvious quality. It may be a small thing but I also appreciate the sturdy box the games came in..I am so tired of boxes that fall apart! Great fun for all! Thanks Ravensberger..I will be buying all of your games!

This is a REALLY fun game great for a game night when you have kids of all ages. The directions are very, very simple and take a quick 2 minutes to read. From then, it is easy to play and the strategy can easily be taught to little or big ones.
What's really neat is that anyone can win - there is a very nice 'chance' factor in the form of the egg - eggs don't roll straight due to their shape so there's no guarantee your egg will roll where you want it to. As often as not, we hit our own hens and not just our opponents. The game takes about 8 minutes to play out - a bit faster with 2 people and a bit longer with four people. Of course, it's more fun with 4 people since there are more hens to chuck the egg at. My 6 year old loves it - she even loves saying the name. When we aren't playing it, she practices chucking the egg on waiting pieces. I like the 3D feel to this and the way it is laid out. An easy to play game and fun for everyone.

"I want to be King of the Chicken! I want to be King of the Chicken!" this chant is done a few times while we are playing this by my 4 and 5 yo sons. My 5 yo has figured out the safest places to "hide" so the rolling egg can't knock him down as easily as some other places.
We've played this many times since Christmas. It's always lots of fun. I love the fact that this is a quick game - maybe 10-15 minutes. It's also very sturdy and should last quite a long time.

This game just looked funny to me, so I thought "why not?" Turns out that lots of kids think it looks like fun too since pretty much every kid I work with has grabbed this game to play. It's very easy to learn, you can have up to 4 players at once, and it is pretty quick and fun.
I especially like this game for younger children since many other games are potentially too complicated to teach them, but this is about as easy as it comes. They also think the idea is very funny. There are some elements of strategy and planning that this game helps to teach, but these are relatively minimal. However, it is a great game for working on frustration tolerance and/or sportsmanship issues since getting your chicken knocked down can really upset some kids. This game is also great for kids who enjoy being creative since I have had several make up new rules and ways to play this game. My biggest complaints for this game is the lack of variety in the rooster positioning and egg options. The rooster cannot hit the chickens that manage to get to the level directly below it. This means that if any player gets to that level (there are 2 spaces there), there is nothing any other player can (fairly) do to get them out and it is therefore only a matter of time before that player rolls the needed hat option and wins. I also think that rather than a chute you push the egg in, some sort of arm that could actually "chuck" the eggs would be pretty neat. Still, it's a fun game that many of the kids I work with keep asking to play, so they definitely did something right!

This game is a great game for our family game night. It entertained my 4 year old, 5 and a half year old, and my 10 year old. I had to help my very young 4 year old with the rules, but i enjoyed it along with everyone else!

Many games require reading and for kindergarten and first graders it can be frustrating. This is a fun game to play and often chosen from the game shelf by our 2 young grandsons. There are small parts to keep away from babies and toddlers but it is a durable plastic game in a durable box. Knocking little chickens down a pyramid shape with little eggs has a little more action and is very entertaining - it's a nice change from the typical board (bored) game or card game.
