5.0 out of 5 stars Great spin off from the original Labyrinth, July 3, 2006

This review is from: Ravensburger Labyrinth Card - Family Game (Toy)
Labyrinth - The Card Game is a great spin off from the board game version. This game differs contains the same concept of building mazes, having some luck, and some strategy. It is good for older elementary children through adults and works for as few as two people to as many as six.

To win the Labyrinth game you must collect as many as prize cards as possible. To do this a player must build a route connecting two matching symbols over as long a maze as possible.

This card version is much more portable than the board version, making it a good travel game.

We got this after we liked Labrynth Jr., and it has been great -- better than the board game version, in fact. We love the variety of the game, and it's as easy or difficult as you want to make it. This version can only last as long as there are cards in the deck ... the board game can go on a long time if we're being strategic.

Like Lbrynth, this promotes logic and reasoning and strategic thinking, which are facets we like as parents. And it's fun, which we just plain like!! Highly recommend getting this to keep in your travel bags, it's great for killing time in airports and such.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful game, December 6, 2006
This review is from: Ravensburger Labyrinth Card - Family Game (Toy)
We have been playing the board version of this game for 17 years, and bought this game to travel with. It is great fun and has gone with us on many ski trips and family vacations. Fun for kids and adults. I highly recommend this game.

If you liked Labyrinth the board game you will love this game. Not as random as the board game. There is more strategy involved so you need to think more than the old game. IT is also nice cause you can take it with you.

My 5 year old son received this as a gift, along with the board version. We love both of them and like that the games are different enough to warrant having both versions. It's a game that is both challenging and sometimes a little frustrating for my son (but he's also younger than the suggested 7 year old age minimum). He'll be able to play it for years to come. Nice that adults can enjoy it as well. I like that the cards are small, but I do wish the box they had put it in was smaller and sturdier. The plastic green card holder inside is flimsy and ripped rather quickly and easily.

Our son was 4 when were in Brittany for a fortnight which included his birthday. He got birthday money from a relative in ye olde French Francs and, after much deliberation, chose this game in a toy shop there. My wife and I had to translate the rules, but we soon got the hang of it and this game has been the clear family favourite ever since. It's been all over the world with us and has been played regularly in airports, hotels, restaurants, with grandparents, during power cuts, when grounded and banned from the computer, etc.

We have been playing the original Labyrinth game (in German) from the time when my husband was a child. This old game is so durable that it looks like new decades later! We love it so I bought this smaller labyrinth spin off game. My kids ages 11, 8, and 5 had a blast playing it. They love both now. However, the quality of this game isn't as good. The old stuff is very thick cardboard. I expected the same quality cards. When the cards were thickness of regular playing cards, I was disappointed. I know this game will be played a lot, so to make cards stay better on the table and not shift so easily, I glued them onto a cork liner that has an adhesive backing. It worked very well. The cards don't fit into the plastic case that goes into the box, but we just split the cards in 2, wrap with elastic and put back in the box. They fit just fine.

This is a lot of fun - if you like board game, then you will also like this card game version too. Highly recommended and worth a shot considering how reasonable the price is!
