Ravi Solution Instant Wine Chiller

Pros:
-Easy to Use: Although there are quite a few pieces that make up the Ravi Solution, it is actually very easy to use.
-Effective: Instantly drops the temperature of any wine by 10F-15F bringing it to a more enjoyable drinking temperature.
-Versatile: Useful in the summer months when red wines at room temperature approach 80F (to bring them down to the mid-60s) -or- if you have a single temperature wine refrigerator set at 55F to drop the temperature down to around 45F.

Cons:
-A little pricey: This is definitely a convenience item and similar results can be attained with a little time in the fridge. However, I've found it quite useful and I'm glad I own one.

This product sounded really wonderful and economical. I was originally looking for a small 8 bottle wine refrigerator, but saw this and knew I could save money on the electricity and required space. While it does work on chilling red wine to a fine temperature, no matter how slowly I pour white wine, it just wasnt cold enough. Very happy I bought the product and will always use it, but I was hoping to be able to open wine and put it back in my wine bar, but I still have to refrigerate the whites which takes up space. Not a total waste as I do like the product for reds wines.

I received this as a gift and have found it to be very useful. I have a wine fridge set at 55 degrees. But I used to always keep a few bottles in the regular fridge just in case. Now I have more room in the fridge since I just use the Ravi when I want a cool white. The device is pretty simple. Only once did it get some air in it and stop working. (It worked again after a few minutes.) This is a very good item for anyone who likes wine and wants it at the right temperature very quickly.

This thing works. I mainly drink red wine and it does what it should. Haven't tried with white wine. It has a thermometer and guide for how cold red and white wine should be about which was handy.

The device stays cold for as long as it says it does. You just need to pour more slowly over time. I recommend between pours keeping it in a glass in your fridge so it doesn't warm up faster and doesn't make a mess.

Sometimes the wine will want to pour out through the air intake that you keep your thumb over to regulate the wine flow which causes a bit of a mess. It also causes the wine to not pour.

Sometimes, even when not on the first use but a few glasses in wine will not flow. Not sure if it is freezing up again inside the coils. But it can be a bit annoying.

Some reviewers on cooking sites have said this is unnecessary as who doesn't have their wine already chilled. It was pretty pretentious I thought. I don't have a wine cellar of any kind and do not have room for one. Also sticking wine in the fridge or freezer gets it to the wrong temperature. Even then I'm not always prepared and don't think I want a glass of wine until it is too late to chill in the fridge/freezer. So this thing is a good space saver and does what you need in a jiff.

Another tip is if you use this with say the Vinituri wine aerator, you should pour it through the Ravi into a glass measuring cup then from there through the aerator. If you try and go from the Ravi to the Vinituri the pour is too slow and just makes a mess and probably doesn't aerate as well.

I would recommend this product if you want a nice chill to red wine. You do taste the difference in reds. Very nice. Though, it can be clunky to use. You have to make sure it is chilled in the freezer before you want to use it. So, prior planning is needed. Also, you cannot pour a glass and put it back in the freezer, without cleaning it. It can be a bit time consuming during cleaning. You have to get the inside dry with the little attachment so it doesn't freeze inside the body of the chiller.

This thing has "christmas/birthday gift" written all over it....something you would never buy for yourself, but seems like a good gift for someone else.

I purchased this for my mother who prefers her red wine cold, and has been putting ice cubes in her red wine for years.

The temperature is pretty inconsistent...either too cold or not cold enough....add to that you constantly have to put the chilling device in and out of the freezer makes this device effectively useless.

Nice idea, but you're better off saving your money for a chilled wine rack.

I bought this, as I enjoy chardonnays and other white wines, esepcially in summer. But sometimes, I have forgotten to put bottle in the refrigerator before work. So when I Come home, I have none cold. I saw this, and thought what a Great Idea! Well tried it out, and it made the wine cooler, but not cold enough to enjoy and drink. It was Like 67 degrees, thats just too warm for my taste. I ended up adding an ice cube ( Ugh!) I think it would be great for reds, to bring them down a few degrees. I have not tried red yet, so couldnt say, but from other reviews I see It seems to work. I would send it back, but My instructions, and original packaging got tossed out with the trash,,, so Now I Have a $40.00 Loss. I will Keep it and try it with the reds, But for $40.00 - you could just toss them in the freezer for a few minutes and save the $$.

The chiller is easy to use but does not get white wine cool enough from room temp. Fine for reds

It seemed like a really neat idea but was pretty awkward to use. It's tall enough that I felt contorted trying to pour the wine out with this on top of the bottle. I had to pour it REALLY slowly to get the wine to cool even just a little bit so I ended up getting tired of holding the bottle in the contorted position. Neat concept but I probably won't use it that often.

The wine chiller advertisement indicated the chiller was left in the freezer until needed to pour wine through it to chill the wine. Actually, there are four parts to the device, one of which goes in the freezer. Before using, it has to be put together. After chilling the wine, it has to be disassembled, requiring more hand strength than senior citizens might possess. It is definitely not the simple process advertised.

The company selling the product on Amazon.com is marginal. They charged me a restocking fee for the two chillers I bought as Christmas presents even though they were not used and in original boxes. I also had to call them after I returned them to tell them I knew they had received them before they processed a credit on my charge card.
