More About the Author

A few random facts about me:

I am a fiction addict.

I love J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts, Jim Butcher, J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood, Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter, Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series, Stephen King, Jennifer Crusie, Marian Keyes, J.K. Rowling, and a slew of other authors.

I have been known to stay up all night to finish a new novel. I don't so much read as devour.

I am an out of the closet foodie.

People who follow me on Facebook can attest: I am a foodie-blog whore. Love Smitten Kitchen. Adore Pioneer Woman Cooks. Bake my own bread on a weekly basis (because the recipe is so frickin' easy, a chimp could do it -- and it tastes phenomenal. I am a walking infomercial for this bread. ) Total Top Chef freak.

I am a geekgirl.

I love the San Diego Comic-con, or "The Con" as they call it.

I was part of the SCA -- The Society for Creative Anachronism -- and briefly sponsored my own mini army. I learned to speak some Japanese from anime.

I have a near encyclopedic knowledge of character actors and obscure movies. I have been called to settle bar bets.

I have a more-flirtatious-than-appropriate relationship with Excel spreadsheets. When I used to work at a day job, if I wore lipstick they assumed I was going on an interview. To this day, an entire marketing department lives in fear of my memory.

I love being an author.

Love writing. Love promoting. Love everything about it. And I love hearing from readers. Email me, anytime, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

2.0 out of 5 stars Review from the book review blog, Book Faery, March 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ravish: The Awakening of Sleeping Beauty (Avon Red) (Paperback)
I REALLY wish there was more character development. Dialogue and reactions are what primarily irked me the most about this tale. Rory, Jacob, and all the secondary characters appeared more 2D than any other book I've read in a while. Not to say that I'm necessarily flaming this book, mind you, but I just find it hard to believe that everyone could live happily ever after when 75% of the book was about sex.

Then again, most of the story was based upon the dream world. Maybe that's why I feel so skeptical about some of the reactions? Rory and Jacob admitting their love for each other just felt the most random... almost as if Yardley was trying to justify all the dream sex the two had, and to strengthen the supposed bond the two shared. I don't know. I enjoy reading sex scenes just as much any other person who reads books by authors, but this book. I don't know. Maybe it was Yardley's writing style. Maybe because other authors add a bit more plot and actually build the relationship a bit more. I can't pin my reasoning for not enjoying this book to one particular aspect.

If you're looking for a steamy read, then this is definitely the book for you. If you want something a little more substantial, I suggest having an open mind when you crack this book open.

1.0 out of 5 stars I love modern stories, but really ?, October 8, 2011
I really do love modern day retelling of such stories, but this book was just terrible. There was NO character development they were just names slapped upon a page. And when we actually got into the "story" part it was just sex.. every other page was sex! Honestly sex with a complete strange in a dream world that tells you, you're sleeping and that makes you want to hump him over, and over, and over again is just ridiculous! and the ending with the voodoo ritual That was even worse I just can't believe this book was published! waste of time and money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hot read from a great author!, February 25, 2010
This review is from: Ravish: The Awakening of Sleeping Beauty (Avon Red) (Paperback)
After cooling down from reading Crave, the first book in the series, I dove right into Ravish. This a the modern day adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. Again, this is another highly erotic book by a talented author. Hot and steamy doesn't even begin to describe this series.

After Aurora's parents make a pact with a voodoo priestess, so they could have a child, they quickly realize the mistake they make. When Aurora decides to have sex for the first time, the voodoo curse takes effect and she falls into a coma. The physicians all label her as Sleeping Beauty because she stays in this coma for six years, with no medical reason. Her parents hire Dr. Jacob White to try and awaken her.

After Jacob dreams of Aurora, he tries to figure out what the dreams mean and if they are real. This is where the hot sex and erotic fantasies come into play. (Yes, pun intended)

He dreams of Aurora whenever he falls asleep. They quickly fall in lust and love and try to figure out how to wake her up so they can have a life together.

The author also included a secondary story in the book featuring Jacob's brother. They all intertwine into one story and flow nicely. Like I said before, this book is highly erotic, and should only be read by adults.

I am looking forward to reading her next book, Enslave: The Taming of the Beast.
