5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Must-Have!
This author did not waste one page of her book with uselss information. If you are interested in ntrition, eating healthy, and are toying with the idea of eating raw, this book is for you. The information is not overwhelming, and the author does not come across as a fanatic, but rather informs the reader of the diet's benefits, and motivates you to at least try this...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good resource but there are others...
If you're new to raw foods I'm not sure I would start here but it is a good book to have in your library. I particularly did not care for the organization of it. Seemed like too much emphasis was put on the "celebrities" in raw food. They are not gods, just people that have written books and gotten into the "movement". Not taking away from their contribution, but it...

This author did not waste one page of her book with uselss information. If you are interested in ntrition, eating healthy, and are toying with the idea of eating raw, this book is for you. The information is not overwhelming, and the author does not come across as a fanatic, but rather informs the reader of the diet's benefits, and motivates you to at least try this intriguing way of eating. This is probably the one book to really get the beginner started on becoming a raw foodist. There are a ton of resources in the book that makes this a must have for the raw food enthuiast as well as for the beginner. I read the entire book in one weekend, and bought one of the books she recommended and loved it as well. The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose is the book that will actually get you through the steps and process of integrating the raw food lifestyle way of eating. I didn't care for the titles of the books, but the content is amazing! Another must-have book if the Complete Book of Raw Food. With these 3 books, you are set for years as a raw foodie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and comprehensive while trying to sort everything out, August 17, 2008

I'm just beginning to get into the raw foods lifestyle, but if I were to write a Raw Foods book, my style would be similar to the authors. She thoroughly researched everything raw foods and presented all the information in a non-judgemental way. As I'm researching, I'm being bombarded with conflicting views - fruit/low fruit, fat/low fat, and it goes on, all by raw foods leaders. This book made me realize there are different views, but she described them as 'healthy conflicts'.

I found it extremely helpful to learn all about the Raw Foods leaders, philosophy, common debates and more resources. Do not expect to find any recipes, although she does point out tons of great books that will help you!

The title "The Raw Food Diet Myth" was confusing to me however (why call it Myth?), and I did not purchase my book on Amazon. I ended up sifting through the pages at Whole Foods store and thought that it was the perfect book for me to understand the whole raw foods philoshopy. And this book did not fail to deliver.

Now, to research all the additional resources she's recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Some like it Raw, August 16, 2008
This review is from: The Raw Food Diet Myth (Paperback)
Americans spend over $2,000,000,000 annually on healthcare. Hopefully, some day soon, more people will look to diet and lifestyle for support, rather than medications and operations.

Ruthann and Emmalea Russo have written a carefully-researched, well balanced book to educate people to gradually transition to more raw foods.

These are the concepts that helped heal Emmalea and hopefully will reach a broad audience to support people to lead healthy, happy lives.

I have read about 20 raw food books now. This is absolutely the best cover to cover summary. It is succinct, easy to read, and full of important information. I am not a big fan of the the confusing title, but otherwise cannot list a single complaint. This is an important resource in the library of any raw foodist or health conscious person.

I loved this book and wanted to read more by the same author. Then I saw she had a book called THE RAW FOOD LIFESTYLE. Luckily, I got it from the library. When I began to read it, I kept thinking that she had borrowed whole chunks from THE RAW FOOD DIET MYTH, which I had already purchased. I compared the two, and it turned out to be the exact same book. Either one is really good. But you need to know not to buy both.

Great book - its nice to see such a wonderful book out on raw and living food. There are so few, and its so important. the high cost of health care would be 90% less if people followed what is written here.

Well worth the read. Thank you for writing it!

I also picked up this long out of print Raw Food classic, that is also well worth adding to your book shelf:

Raw Food and Health: The Raw Food Classic by the Founder of the Raw Food Movement

I had started reading this book from my Dr. office. I got so excited that I started highlighting things in the book and had to buy another one to replace theirs. Very informative.

If you're new to raw foods I'm not sure I would start here but it is a good book to have in your library. I particularly did not care for the organization of it. Seemed like too much emphasis was put on the "celebrities" in raw food. They are not gods, just people that have written books and gotten into the "movement". Not taking away from their contribution, but it just seems over the top to me. Again, I really did enjoy this book and recommoned it's purchase as she does offer a lot of good information. I would just not find it the best one for an introduction. Well, I guess I'll be a little wishy washy on this. It wasn't bad at all, just probably not my favorite. Still a very good book and worth making the purchase.
