Editorial Reviews

This acoustic project won the 2009 San Diego Music Award for Best Local Recording. The album's full band single "Shooting for the Sun" has received national airplay and is a fan favorite. Album also features Shawn Mayer (Nashville Star) and Rob Deez.

Great acoustic record from an up-and-coming performer. If you have not heard of him you can do a search on YouTube or Google and find several clips of live performances. I got turned on to the music while guitar shopping- he plays Wechter guitars and I was looking at them (bought a pathmaker, it's great) when I ran across one of his clips playing some of the different models.

About the music- good, sincere, raw in some places, funny in others, but powerful all around. Talented songwriter and artist who is currently unsigned but won't be for long. I even emailed him and asked for tips on how to play a few of my favorites songs and he enthusiastically replied... which is very cool. He even told me to post my covers of his songs on YouTube (which probably won't happen, but it was nice).

For the price of the disc you can't go wrong.

4 simple words, "Josh Damigo is great"! While this album isn't new it is just as good as anything by John Mayer or Jason Mraz. You won't be dissapointed by purchasing this album, it has a little of everything from his "famous" single Pocket Change to a heartfelt love song like Sleeves, to a hilarious bar song like Sugar and closing with a rocking song like Shooting For The Sun. Josh sings straight from the heart which is the main theme of the album but his great sound comes from his amazing voice and guitar skills.

Look for his new album Hope coming out in August 2012 and support this great artist (even if he is from California :)

I downloaded it based on one song, Pocket Change, which I had heard on Pandora. I also listened to a few track previews before getting the whole album, and enjoyed it all. All in all the album is great and I'm happy with my purchase. There are a couple standout tracks for me, including Pocket Change and Shooting for the Sun. The songs featuring Rob Deez are also fun and unique. This album is very listenable, but I didn't quite give it 5 stars because none of the songs really stand out (except those already mentioned). But please, if you like creative, laid-back, acoustic, singer-songwriter stuff, get this album!

I've been listening Pocket Change since it showed up on my Pandora quite a while ago and recently a second song from this album showed up. So I decided to pick up the whole thing and I've been playing it on repeat for the last two days. I'm not a big fan of the first song or the two live songs, though the banter and story in Sugar is admittedly pretty amusing. Still, the album is 5 stars in my book, and Raw is an appropriate title on many levels, from the acoustic nature of the tracks to the emotions it evokes. Powerful storytelling. I don't think you'll regret giving it a try.
