More About the Author

At age 20, Paul Nison was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (also know as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), a deadly affliction.

His search for a cure began with medical doctors, but they didn't have the answers he needed. After trying almost every so-called cure to overcome his pain and suffering, Paul finally discovered the benefits of eating more simply. Simplifying his diet was the first step in his cure. After turning to a more simple diet called "the raw food diet" consisting of just that, raw foods, Paul was amazed at how quickly his health returned. He was even more amazed because doctor's told him raw foods would not help his condition. In fact, they warned him by saying a diet of raw fruits and vegetables would be harmful to anyone with inflammatory bowel disease.
His return to health and a simpler life was just the beginning of a path that would bring him to question the connection between today's fast-paced urban lifestyle and the sadly diseased state in which so many people find themselves.

Paul's extensive research on the topic of health and diet led him to write three books on the topic of raw foods and health, "The Raw Life: Becoming Natural in an Unnatural World, and Raw Knowledge Parts 1 and 2. The main focus of these three books was interviews with people who have been eating a raw food diet for many years.
Paul developed a strong desire to continue writing and help others suffering from IBD, the disease that once did him in. This led Paul to write his next book, Healing Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

As Paul continued to study, he was led to read the Bible. Where he found a massive amount of health information with the scriptures of the Bible. These Scriptures health scriptures became the topic of Paul's next book, Health According to The Scriptures.

While studying the Bible Paul learned about the ideal times to eat our food, during the daylight hours. This is the topic of Paul's latest book The Daylight Diet.

Paul is on a mission to bring the message of health and healing to the world. His experiences and background in raw food nutrition, along with his study of the Scriptures, have helped him develop a unique teaching style that is fun, simple and to the point. Paul has helped people in several countries achieve their goals while pleasing their Maker.
Paul grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He is married to Andrea and they have a daughter Noa Raquel. The Nison family all share the same passion to spread the health message. Andrea has a blog for woman and families www.ourrawlife.com and the whole Nison family makes daily videos on their health show www.rawlifehealthshow.com

5.0 out of 5 stars The Raw Life: Becoming Natural In An Unnatural World, February 4, 2001
By

A great book! I have bought over 15 books in the past month on the benefits of eating 70%-100% raw foods, and while all of them have been terrific, this one is the easiest read. I am kind of on my own down here in Ormond Beach, and this book surely helped in my quest to discover the joys of the raw food lifestyle. The section on what goes on in the slaughter houses, poultry processing plants, and the fish packing plants and the unhealthy nature of all three industries as a whole, surely convinced me to avoid these poisens for the rest of my life. Additionally, the interviews with other raw food experts, and the list of healing retreats was especially helpful. Thanks, Paul.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Fanatical, July 11, 2002

This review is from: The Raw Life : Becoming Natural In An Unnatural World (Paperback)
I am so glad I took it out at the library before I spent money on it. I found the overuse of the analogy to boxing got old real fast. Very little practical information for the beginner Raw Foodist of the why's and wherefor's. I found it to be entirely too extreme and fanatical. If this had been the first book I ever read on the Raw lifestyle I would have been instantly turned off and gone back to just being vegetarian or stayed with the S.A.D.

I was really disappointed in this book as it was my first attempt to get in touch with raw eating. If you're a 12 yr old with a Karate Kid attitude then this book is for you. Not a good book if you're looking for help with transition to a raw food diet. Very little mention of what you should eat on a raw food program other than the obvious (fresh veggies and fruit), just a lot of caveman hype about what to avoid eating, drinking, smoking or swallowing. And the spelling and grammar were atrocious as well. Sorry Paul, better luck next time.
