More About the Author

At age 20, Paul Nison was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (also know as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), a deadly affliction.

His search for a cure began with medical doctors, but they didn't have the answers he needed. After trying almost every so-called cure to overcome his pain and suffering, Paul finally discovered the benefits of eating more simply. Simplifying his diet was the first step in his cure. After turning to a more simple diet called "the raw food diet" consisting of just that, raw foods, Paul was amazed at how quickly his health returned. He was even more amazed because doctor's told him raw foods would not help his condition. In fact, they warned him by saying a diet of raw fruits and vegetables would be harmful to anyone with inflammatory bowel disease.
His return to health and a simpler life was just the beginning of a path that would bring him to question the connection between today's fast-paced urban lifestyle and the sadly diseased state in which so many people find themselves.

Paul's extensive research on the topic of health and diet led him to write three books on the topic of raw foods and health, "The Raw Life: Becoming Natural in an Unnatural World, and Raw Knowledge Parts 1 and 2. The main focus of these three books was interviews with people who have been eating a raw food diet for many years.
Paul developed a strong desire to continue writing and help others suffering from IBD, the disease that once did him in. This led Paul to write his next book, Healing Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

As Paul continued to study, he was led to read the Bible. Where he found a massive amount of health information with the scriptures of the Bible. These Scriptures health scriptures became the topic of Paul's next book, Health According to The Scriptures.

While studying the Bible Paul learned about the ideal times to eat our food, during the daylight hours. This is the topic of Paul's latest book The Daylight Diet.

Paul is on a mission to bring the message of health and healing to the world. His experiences and background in raw food nutrition, along with his study of the Scriptures, have helped him develop a unique teaching style that is fun, simple and to the point. Paul has helped people in several countries achieve their goals while pleasing their Maker.
Paul grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He is married to Andrea and they have a daughter Noa Raquel. The Nison family all share the same passion to spread the health message. Andrea has a blog for woman and families www.ourrawlife.com and the whole Nison family makes daily videos on their health show www.rawlifehealthshow.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the book!, January 17, 2006
This review is from: Raw knowledge Part 2: Interviews with Health Achievers (Paperback)
I read the other two reviews and I am wondering if they are referring to RAW KNOWLEDGE, the first book? And I just went straight to volume II, Paul Nison hardly speaks in volume II. It is full of incredible interviews with people that live the Raw Life. I have been researching a Vegetarian/Raw lifestyle and found this book to be very inspriational and extremely helpful.

I always had the impression that leading a Raw Life was difficult, and this book helped me see it in another way and that is not.

If you are new/researching the raw life I would HIGHLY recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the interviews and different opinions and ideas, December 27, 2011

If you want a variety of ideas on how to go about eating raw food, this is a great place to start. You will get a variety of ideas, opinions, and suggestions from various raw foodists. It's nice to see that everyone has different ideas on how to eat raw food, and it works well for different people, doing different things. For example: some like sprouts, some think it's not a good thing, some like juices, some like smoothies, some dehydrate, some mono-eat, etc. If something doesn't work for you, try something else...the interviews give some great insight as to other things you could try yourself. I love tips and got a few great ones from the interviews in this book.

I have to say that the comments about how Paul "writes" the book must be comments about his first book, "The Raw Life," not this book "Raw Knowledge" I or II. This book is made up of just interviews, same with Raw Knowledge Part 1.

I DID read his first book called, The Raw Life, and loved the SECOND part of which was made up of interviews, and the interviews were very interesting and well worth reading. I definitely did not like the way he wrote the "first section" of the book where he was comparing eating raw food to being like boxing, or saying you should or shouldn't do things, but not backing them up with "why." I thought that section was choppy and not easy to follow or understand, I could not relate to what he was saying, my friend said he just isn't a good writer that's all, was trying to explain things, but wasn't doing a good job of it. But, maybe it reaches others in a different way. Personally, if I re-read that book (The Raw Life), I skip the first part and jump to the interviews.

I DO recommend Paul Nison's books for the interviews. The interviews in each of his books are different, no duplicated interviews, and they are fabulous, informative interviews which can give great advice and suggestions to those interested in eating raw food.

This kind of writing should be illegal! It reads like a harry potter knockoff manual for raw-newcomers, wherein Paul Nison is the benevolent expert magician. The author has nothing new to say, takes up space with EXTRA LARGE print and silly pictures and everything that OTHER people have to say about the diet. I never bothered reading past page one. This book is insulting to my IQ and a total scam.
