This review is from: The Ray Bradbury Chronicles, Volume 1 (Paperback)
This is an excellent set of seven volumes all containing fully illustrated graphic versions of Ray Bradbury's most famous stories. I have no idea why this set is not better known. I, myself, have read Mr. Bradbury's work all of my life and I found this collection to be fully in the spirit of his greatest work. In fact, you get the full flavor and atmosphere of those stories here in a way that you can get them nowhere else. Sure, some of the art work and lettering is a little far out and avante gard, but the early Bradbury was always about pushing the boundaries of imagination and perception. His work was always more poem than prose- in fact it was Bradbury that opened me up to a wider world of literature appreciation. Having said that, there is also a good sampling of more conventional Bradbury adaptations from the old EC mags.

Really this is an homage to Bradbury's work by some of the top talent in comics and graphic novels. Each volume contains from four to six graphic adaptations of the master's work (all in glorious color.) The hard cover set has dust jackets and custom illustrated end papers (all different.) This is really a handsome set for your permanent library. In fact, these are the kind of books that you keep pulling down from the the shelf again and again to read on a quiet evening.
