5.0 out of 5 stars Ray of Inspiration
The way Madonna sings the words "And I feel like I just got home," is reason alone why "Ray of Light" stands as one of her best singles in a long while. Madonna imparts the lyrics with such energy and heart, that it propels the song's driving beats into more dizzying, poignant heights. And just when you think she's delivered the goods, Madonna...

3.0 out of 5 stars Literally, breathtaking
Madonna has certainly improved with age! Her alto voice, and her choice of recordings within the past few years, have both drastically improved to the point where I've willingly bought both this single and her recording of Evita. The original song is thumping and exhillarating - the remixes are interesting, although they do not, in my opinion, touch the original. The...

The way Madonna sings the words "And I feel like I just got home," is reason alone why "Ray of Light" stands as one of her best singles in a long while. Madonna imparts the lyrics with such energy and heart, that it propels the song's driving beats into more dizzying, poignant heights. And just when you think she's delivered the goods, Madonna surprises you by punctuating the finale with a banshee's wail that would send Sinead O'Connor running! Lush with sonic force, whirligig computer effects and emotional delivery, "Ray of Light" becomes a slice of pop bliss that brings Madonna full circle to her dance club roots. Indeed, it's like she just got home.

The final remix is particularly singular for its operatic overtones. An excellent song for this crazy, rushing world - a ray of hopeful light through the swirling madness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ray of ReMixes, September 9, 2001
This review is from: Ray of Light (Audio CD)
This is the best Madonna single from '98.
The song itself is fantastic, the remixes are itrersting but the track that lifts the dancefloor everytime i play it, is the Calderone remix.

That remix alone, makes this a single an investment!
Fantastic
Fabulous

5.0 out of 5 stars rays of music, June 24, 2000

A GREAT song and the remixes are fabulose!

Remixes are not made to sound like the original song, rather the remix should show the song in a different light and I think that these remixes do so.

It's worth every dime!

5.0 out of 5 stars awsome!!!, June 27, 1999

I never really liked Madonna until just recently. Her newest album 'Ray of Light' is awesome. She's changed a lot recently, and this album is just a product of. My favourite songs are 'Ray of Light', 'Frozen', and 'Shanti/Astangi'. There's a few others that I like, but those are the ones I listen to most often. I just want to congratulate her on a job well done, and I hope that she keeps it up!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Ray of Light": AND I FEEEEEEELLLLLL!!!!!!!, June 9, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ray of Light (Audio CD)
"Ray of Light" (the album) is wonderful. And so is this single. It always reminds me of summer, and it puts me in a good mood. Here is a review and rating of each track:
1. Album Version (5:22) 10/10: Just what it says. A radio edit or even an extended mix would have been nicer, though.

2. Sasha Ultra Violet Mix (10:47) 10/10: I LOVE THIS REMIX!!! It is also interesting to note that this is the first time he ever remixed Madonna. Oh, and did anyone notice that Sasha raised the song's key a little bit? Anyway, Mr. Digweed did a great job!!!

3. William Orbit Liquid Mix (8:08) 10/10: This is my favorite. It sounds like it was made in 1991 instead of 1998. It also very much resembles the album version. I especially like the part where Madge sings "And I feel like I just got home" in OPERA style!

4. Calderone Club Mix (9:29) 9.8/10: I like it, but I don't love it. Don't get me wrong, it's DEFINITELY club-worthy. It's just that it could have been longer, like Mr. Calderone's work on "Music".

One last question: WHY DID THIS GET RELEASED IN TWO PARTS?! Part 2 is EXTREMELY hard to find, and I'm annoyed that it went out of print so early, because the Twilo mix is amazing! Madonna, here's an idea: re-release this (with 8 tracks) in 2008 (10 year anniversary!). Then, everyone will have the complete set of commercial remixes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, November 5, 2000
This review is from: Ray of Light (Audio CD)
At first when I got this maxi when it came out, I didnt like the remixes. I thought, how could you remix such a great song as Ray of Light, one of her best. After listening to the single more and more I grew to like the remixes, they are very dance/techno and each stand on their own. I learned to like them after I realized that nothing will ever touch Ray of Light, but these are nice attributes to the original, the classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Madonna Track in 15 Years, March 2, 1999
By

The first and last album I bought by Madonna was her 1983 Sire debut. At the time, it was a breath of fresh air in a steadily stagnating American pop scene. Since then, she has on occasion tended to place greater emphasis upon personality and image at the expense of the music. With this release, Madonna's musicianship returns to center stage. A vibrant and vital piece, "Ray of Light" the single echos with hints of Brian Eno's "Ali Click" and Hawkwind's "Spirit of the Age". As an added bonus, Madonna's vocals have matured light years since her debut -- a fact that is beautifully reflected on this disc. A truly great track that should stand the test of time. This is definitely worth owning.

A Madonna fan since her music career began, I love her new album "Ray of Light" but was not all that impressed with the "Ray of Light" track itself. However, this maxi single has me loving it- it gives the song a lot more kick. Check out the Ultra Violet mix.

3.0 out of 5 stars A great song with annoying as hell remixes, August 13, 2001
By

Dont get me wrong, because the original song on this cd is excellent. Its one of my favorite Madonna songs. But, it did have one faulty...the remixes. The last remix was very good, but the second and third tracks (both remixes) weren't what i thougth they'd be, especially after listening to the excellent Frozen remixes. Please dont assume this is a bad single by reading this thought, as logn as you dont like the same beat being played over and over and over again. By the way, 3 stars is pretty good for a single.
