1.0 out of 5 stars Watch out, Remake Alert
When dealing with Ray Price cd's, pay attention to the fact that he has re-recorded his greatest hits many times.

This collection is a good example. All remakes, all well done, but remakes anyway.

Beware anytime you see the name "Dominion." It is a sure sign of remakes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ray Price - A Legend living up to it every day still after more than 50 years and probably 60. It's hard to believe, but it's s, June 21, 2007

He is the best. I've been listening to my latest CD by him : The Other Woman, and so I just put all the rest of them on the stereo and I've been listening to them all day. I had been craving that CD since I have it on LP and Casette. It is my very favorite of his, but then, they're all my favorites. This one included. Most all of my favorite songs are on here. My very favorite song is Night Life. About that review up there that said a lot of his songs are remakes; well his voice has gotten so much richer and better over the years, I like comparing these new ones to the original and earlier versions. He might up the tempo or change a swing in his voice, but it always just makes it better. I don't care if he does them all again tomorrow. As long as he's with us I hope he's active. If he does them again, he'll put something in there that will almost make it a different song. He's such a class act. He might seem to some like a grouch, but he isn't. When he was inducted in to the hall of fame and he said (after his thank you speech) "it's about time". He was just echoing what all of us fans had been saying for years. This day and age it's very hard for good singers like him to find good music to record. The songs being written these days are for those long haired, dirty, ripped up jeans clad boys that are trying to pass themselves off as country. They are no more country than New York City. And the music is probably as trashy as a video I happened upon just 2 nights ago. (Who can tell though, they scream the words so loudly that I can't understand them.) I don't include that new young man who seems very decent - Josh Turner. He could be another Ray Price, with a voice like his.
That video I refer to was Gretchen Wilson (I don't even know who she is but I saw her name displayed) rolling around, (naked) in the bed with, I believe it was a guy. Looked like something or someone was underneath her. Or she might've been riding one of those fake bulls in the bars. I don't know. I am 70 years old and I cannot understand why young people can't conduct themselves with decency. It was horrifying. I couldn't get that channel changed fast enough. It made me sick looking at it the few seconds that I did. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's a shame and I'm sure God saw it. I'd be afraid to have to explain myself to him over something like that come judgement day. It's just totally immoral.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
loved ray price when i was in college in the 60's.these standards are what made me love country music back then.it is quite different now.still like it but this country music now is more a cross between rock and country.must admit nostalgia is the driving force in my feelings in the earlier ray price.it brings back the good old college days.yikes! purchased at amazon.
