PS2 ? This game proves that the PS1 has some punch left...,

This review is from: RayCrisis (Video Game)
Wow. This game is a great last gasp for my beloved Playstation. Working Designs is looking to have a strong finish for the old grey box with Lunar 2 and Arc the Lad collection just aound the corner. If you are a fan of the "shooter" genre, you must have this game. Raycrisis: Series Termination, rivals the great shooters on this system like Einhander and R-Type Delta. This game uses an over head view. The terrain is in glorious 3-D and boasts superb detail. The jungle level is amazing, with weather effects to boot. The game play in this sequel is similar to it's predecessor, Raystorm. You control one ship against hundreds of enemies with the ability to lock-on to multiple targets. Your ship sports forward cannons and rear-firing lasers. The bosses are generated by an evil computer (most likely a Microsoft X-box) that is bent on taking over the world. The stage bosses are of the large sort that beg to be destroyed. You blast through levels of enemies that seem to swarm around your fighter. Raycrisis plays at a good speed, but it does experience a bit of slow down. The slow down is not enough to foul up game play though. In fact, it may save you when a cloud of destruction is headed your way. To get full benefit of Raycrisis, I suggest turning the difficutly up and the lives down. This game defines "twitch shooter." If you love old school style shooters, this game is for you.

RayCrisis is a wonderful space shooter game that moves very quickly and is quite difficult. If you get vertigo or have poor depth-perception, it will be more difficult for you to play. However, the graphics are wonderful and show off just what the PS1 was really capable of, and the choices of playable ships make for a delightful replay value. Highly recommended.
