2.0 out of 5 stars I didn't really care for this product
I must be the only one who thinks this product is so-so. When i first saw it, I thought this would be the perfect product. I am so worried about protecting my son's skin, as he is very fair. The idea is a good one, but certain things bothered me:

On a breezy day, this canopy will blow upwards (due to the hoop that makes it look like a giant blue Pringle potato chip),...

This is one of the neatest baby products out there. I first saw a product just like this many months ago on another website when I was still pregnant with my son. Back then I said I would definately have to buy one for my stroller, but the only thing that kept me from doing so was the price-- the other stroller shade, which I believe was exactly the same, was about 4 times more expensive than this one!!! So I held off and couldn't have been more excited when I ran across this one in my local Babies-R-Us. Even though my stroller has a canopy that is a little more generous than most, there have been many occasions when we've been out on walks and my son has been startled from the sun blaring in his face or the wind hitting him. Now we can go on walks without me having to worry about my son getting sunburned. The picture definately doesn't do this product justice though. The shade attaches over your stroller or infant seat's existing canopy and can be adjusted higher or lower to provide more or less coverage. On my stroller I can pull it down almost all the way down to my son's napper bar which is also great to block out the light if he happens to fall asleep. I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, works well on my jogging stroller, October 6, 2004
This review is from: RayShade® UV Protective Stroller Shade Improves Sun Protection for Strollers, Joggers and Prams Navy (Baby Product)
This is a great product and I'm glad I went ahead and bought it. I go jogging with my daughter nearly every day, so I needed something that would block the sun well. I had been using a light blanket and clothespins, but wouldn't you know, just as I got going at a good jogging pace, my daughter would remove a clothespin and the "shade" was no more. I was stopping to fix it more than I was actually jogging.

With this sunshade, she can't undo it...although she tries! I can pull it all the way down (as low as I can on my particular jogger) and she can still see out but is shielded from the sun. I like the side pockets - great for keys and small items - and the velcro tabs are easy to use.

The only drawback - and this is such a minor issue, probably hardly worth mentioning - is that the shade doesn't fold up all nice and compact like the instructions say. I wrestled with my shade for awhile before I finally got it folded up (it was a matter of "doggone it, this thing isn't going to get the best of me!")...and even then, it wasn't very stable. My suggestion - keep the little bag it comes in and semi-fold it and store it in that.

All in all, this is worth it. Wish I'd had one when I started jogging with my daughter last year!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT sunny weather product!, July 8, 2004

This review is from: RayShade® UV Protective Stroller Shade Improves Sun Protection for Strollers, Joggers and Prams Navy (Baby Product)
I tried to use my other kiddopotamus shade with my 16 mt old the other day while taking a stroll on the beach. He would not hear of it! He wanted to see out!! I searched the web trying to find another shade to cover him - This was the answer!! I did not want to pay more than 20.00 for the shade and at 15.00 this is a bagin!! I have found it extemely easy to use on my baby jogger. One windy day it did blow in but that was OK with me because I knew it was also blocking the wind from my son's face. If you are looking to extend your stroller's shade area this is the product for you!! I only wish I had found it before I got rid of my Inglesina stroller because I could not move the shade forward to block the son from my fair skinned child!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple yet effective, August 31, 2005

I am very pleased with this sun shade. When I first received it I thought I got scammed because it looks like nothing. But it does the job very effectively. It's super easy to attach and when not needed the shade pulls back out of the way. Depending on the angle of the sun, I can have it partially or fully extended. I've used ours for almost a year and it's held its shape. It also packs up very compactly for traveling. It's the best I've found for maximum sun coverage.

It fits both my full size Evenflo travel system stroller and my lightweight Peg Aria, which has a very small canopy. On my recommendation my cousin got one and it works on her full size and her small Zooper also. I've read other reviews complaining it doesn't fit but I've tried it on many strollers of friends and it works. I think you just need to be creative in how you tie it to the stroller. I expect this shade will work on most strollers.

I can see that some kids may dislike the reduced field of view when the shade is fully extended. I started using it when my daughter was only 3 months old so I think she got used to it. She's never had a problem with the reduced view. My cousin started using it recently on her 11 mos old and her baby doesn't fuss either.

I now give this sun shade to every friend with young kids. It's a great and inexpensive shower gift. It's one of those things you can't live without once you have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Must Have for Moms who love the outdoors!, June 4, 2004

This review is from: RayShade® UV Protective Stroller Shade Improves Sun Protection for Strollers, Joggers and Prams Navy (Baby Product)
I saw this shade on a few websites and really thought it was neat. Being a mom of 2, I can't tell you how many amusement parks, zoo's, the beach, walks, etc. I've done where my kids (who sit in a double stroller) have been pelted by the burning rays of the sun because the existing stroller canopy doesn't shield enough. We live in California and the rays can get pretty darn hot. The canopy attaches to any stroller over your existing canopy with the use of velcro straps. It can be raised or lowered with ease. I've lowered it just above the bar on my stroller while my little ones have slept (that is how low it can go). There are 2 side pockets to hold bottles, sippy cups, a water bottle for mom etc. It is made of the same material they make cyclists shirts from. This is a great product at a great price. The pictures here do not do this item justice. I highly recommend it to anyone who was once like me putting baby blankets draped over the stroller canopy or even a bath towel to shield the sun. No more with this shade!

Attaches easily, looks okay, blocks out almost all sun (except maybe if on horizon), the kid is ok with it (she does not like the plastic covers for rain or for sun).

Would be nice if it was waterproof also. I am afraid to use it in the rain thinking everything will get soaked.

Otherwise fine. A good value and a good product.

I love this product, worth every penny. I tried the other kiddapotamus cover with the screen first and it did not work. This completely covers my 8 month old's face. The first day I tried it was a very windy sunny day, I had no problem with the shade moving or flipping up or down. I would recommend this to anyone, just wish I had this for my 3 year old son.

2.0 out of 5 stars I didn't really care for this product, June 9, 2004

I must be the only one who thinks this product is so-so. When i first saw it, I thought this would be the perfect product. I am so worried about protecting my son's skin, as he is very fair. The idea is a good one, but certain things bothered me:

On a breezy day, this canopy will blow upwards (due to the hoop that makes it look like a giant blue Pringle potato chip), which means the sun can be on him. Call me paranoid, but I expected him to be pretty much completely covered.

When I pull it completely down to the front, of course the back portion of the canopy (which moves forward on our Graco Quattro Tour stroller) exposes the back of his head to the sun. Even in this position, he still gets some sun on his legs as well. I am constantly adjusting it and just don't feel that it gives my son enough coverage. I find that his legs stick out further than the shade, even in its lowest position.

It doesn't really fold up well. It sticks out on the sides when I try to fold up the stroller. are you supposed to take it off when you stow the stroller in your trunk? I don't - I would rather not have to put it on and take it off every time.

I do like the fabric, how it seems breathable and stretchy. I like how it covers the idiotic "sunroof" of plastic on our stroller's canopy, but then a blanket and some clothespins would probably do the same thing. I may take this product back and continue looking. Kiddopotamus has another product that completely envelopes the entire stroller, and we may try that.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Shade Works Great!, May 31, 2005

This review is from: RayShade® UV Protective Stroller Shade Improves Sun Protection for Strollers, Joggers and Prams Navy (Baby Product)
I ordered this shade hoping that it would cover all of my baby when we're out strolling in the sun. It does a pretty good job; only my son's feet and ankles are exposed when he is reclined (my only beef about the product), but I can cover his little piggies and ankles with sunscreen or shoes with no problem. I like the fact that the shade protects from UV rays and is easily adjustable. I leave it on my stroller all the time and can still fold up the stroller with it attached. I think the side pouches are an excellent plus. I am very pleased with this product and will recommend it to my friends and family.

Too big and bulky to sit easily on top of the canopy. It may be my stroller (Maclaren quest) that it the issue, but I wish I never bought this product. My baby hates it too, because she can't see where we're walking to.
