5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful platforming bliss January 4, 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Standard
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love the recent return to 2D platforming. Although this game isn't a Wii exclusive, the Wii definitely started this trend, which is one of several reasons why the Wii remains my favorite platform. Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Return to Dreamland (and Epic Yarn), New Super Mario Bros Wii, and others like A Boy and His Blob and LostWinds are among the best 2D platformers of the past few generations. I'm a gamer born and raised on 2D platformers, and Rayman Origins reminds me of my childhood; my salad days as a gamer.

The game is a welcome departure from the Rabbids series, which bears little resemblance to this game. It is a return to the original 2D Rayman, but it's faster paced than the original Rayman game, borrowing from DKC Returns and New SMB Wii in terms of challenge and pace. It also reminds me quite a bit of the 16-bit era Virgin Games platformers like Aladdin, Cool Spot, and The Jungle Book in terms of humor and style. You will find yourself cracking up at the characters' antics throughout the game. The levels are designed brilliantly and will keep you challenged without too much frustration. You'll be just as awed with the graphics and sound, which both contribute to the charming style of the game. The only platformer I've seen that's this good looking is DKC Returns; I'd go as far to say that Ubi Soft has topped Nintendo in terms of polish with this game.

It's a great game that kids and adults alike will enjoy. I haven't even touched on the multiplayer--the game is even more fun when played with 2-3 others, though things can get confusing with too many people on screen, especially in the bigger levels or the "shadow" levels. But it's certainly one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had, and few games are this beautiful and complete. Must buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars My top game of the year. December 30, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Normally I am not a Rayman fan, but they won me over with this title. As far as a technical standpoint the controls are spot on, smooth and responsive. The game plays smoothly on the Wii with no lag. I cannot talk enough about the attention to detail in the level design and artwork. The levels are in dynamic and challenging without being impossible. The game truly pulls you into the Rayman world. The amount of work and care that Ubisoft put in makes this title shine. Any gamer that remotely enjoys platform games should own this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots-O-Fun!!! December 29, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
Got this for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas and I wasn't really sure what it was about. I saw the graphics and watched the video and thought she would like it. She and I, and the neighbor's boy, have been playing it almost non-stop since. It's such a great game and super fun to play with multiple players. Up to 4 players can play at once and it's not the kind of game where one player takes a turn and then when that person dies the next one plays. When you play with more than one player, all the players help each other out throughout each stage. If one player goes too far ahead and the others are stuck behind, they blow up and the remaining player has to wack them to make them active again! Didn't really it would be about teamwork in a video game but it's great. I love the graphics, the wacky characters, and the crazy stages and secret passage ways. I highly recommend this game to help get through those long cold winter days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rayman's Back! May 12, 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Standard
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
"Rayman Origins" is a very unique game, starring everyone's favorite limbless hero. It is tons of fun and unlike any I've ever played before. The graphics are beautiful, with a cartoonish style, and the music is some of the best and most different I've ever heard. This game is a side scroller and is more similar to the original "Rayman" game. There are a whole bunch of levels, and you'll have lots to do because you get Electoons and medals from collecting enough Lums or getting through the levels within a certain time. There is also a secret level at the end of the game called the Land of the Livid Dead which was a beast to play through, but super satisfying to finish. There are also unlockable playable characters such as Globox and a bunch of different Teensies, and this game can be played with multiple players, as well.
Besides being a really fun, really unique game, it is so nice to have a game that is an actual challenge. It feels like many games nowadays are made too easy, and this game is hard. It's not impossible, but it will certainly challenge you. You can finish it in about two weeks, but it will take longer to get all 246 Electoons, all 10 skull teeth, and finish the secret level.
There is one thing that I want to mention. Maybe this is a weird place for it, but this game has a glitch or bad level design in one area, so anyone who buys this game can benefit from hearing about it. The level is called Pirate's Treasure, and if you have trouble with it, then here's my advice. The "glitch" happens at the end, at the two masts you jump up. The camera will zoom right, leaving you to die off-screen, if you're not careful. To avoid this, as you get ready to jump up the masts, let go of the control stick and tap the jump button quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than all my kinect games - a must have March 26, 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Standard
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought an Xbox 360 Kinect for myself and the young kids this Christmas, and purchased a dozen games. While Dance Central 2 is very popular, Rayman Origins is by far the MOST played - even now, a full three months later, we are all still playing it daily, and have not finished the game! And we're not gaming noobs.

PROS
-----
1. Replayability - you will want to play this through at least twice, and even within a game, you will want to go back and collect the pink Electoons you missed the first time.

2. Duration - like I said, we've been playing many hours, and just when you think you've completed the game, there's a whole other level of maps you haven't seen yet.

3. Multiplayer is NOT split screen - up to four people can play at once, and teamwork does make a difference on the harder levels, though you can get everything solo.

4. Multiple Accomplishment Levels - There are a series of Fairy Queens that you have to catch and liberate, giving you successive abilities (float, run on walls, etc). There are Electoons that you earn as you capture as many Lums as possible (they're like stars in Sonic), which unlocks new characters AND unlocks the Tooth Maps. On each level of maps there is a Tooth Map - you have to collect 10 such teeth in order to get to the last series of maps (I assume they are the last, we've been playing forever!).

5. Built in fun - Not only are the sounds amusing (but not overly repetitive or cartoonish in a cheap way), but so are the animations. Also, to bring a fellow player back to life, you have to slap them. Nice (but can turn into slap wars and arguments if your children decide to play tit for tat).

6.
