5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful platforming bliss January 4, 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Standard
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love the recent return to 2D platforming. Although this game isn't a Wii exclusive, the Wii definitely started this trend, which is one of several reasons why the Wii remains my favorite platform. Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Return to Dreamland (and Epic Yarn), New Super Mario Bros Wii, and others like A Boy and His Blob and LostWinds are among the best 2D platformers of the past few generations. I'm a gamer born and raised on 2D platformers, and Rayman Origins reminds me of my childhood; my salad days as a gamer.

The game is a welcome departure from the Rabbids series, which bears little resemblance to this game. It is a return to the original 2D Rayman, but it's faster paced than the original Rayman game, borrowing from DKC Returns and New SMB Wii in terms of challenge and pace. It also reminds me quite a bit of the 16-bit era Virgin Games platformers like Aladdin, Cool Spot, and The Jungle Book in terms of humor and style. You will find yourself cracking up at the characters' antics throughout the game. The levels are designed brilliantly and will keep you challenged without too much frustration. You'll be just as awed with the graphics and sound, which both contribute to the charming style of the game. The only platformer I've seen that's this good looking is DKC Returns; I'd go as far to say that Ubi Soft has topped Nintendo in terms of polish with this game.

It's a great game that kids and adults alike will enjoy. I haven't even touched on the multiplayer--the game is even more fun when played with 2-3 others, though things can get confusing with too many people on screen, especially in the bigger levels or the "shadow" levels. But it's certainly one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had, and few games are this beautiful and complete. Must buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars My top game of the year. December 30, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Normally I am not a Rayman fan, but they won me over with this title. As far as a technical standpoint the controls are spot on, smooth and responsive. The game plays smoothly on the Wii with no lag. I cannot talk enough about the attention to detail in the level design and artwork. The levels are in dynamic and challenging without being impossible. The game truly pulls you into the Rayman world. The amount of work and care that Ubisoft put in makes this title shine. Any gamer that remotely enjoys platform games should own this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots-O-Fun!!! December 29, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii| Edition:Standard|Amazon Verified Purchase
Got this for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas and I wasn't really sure what it was about. I saw the graphics and watched the video and thought she would like it. She and I, and the neighbor's boy, have been playing it almost non-stop since. It's such a great game and super fun to play with multiple players. Up to 4 players can play at once and it's not the kind of game where one player takes a turn and then when that person dies the next one plays. When you play with more than one player, all the players help each other out throughout each stage. If one player goes too far ahead and the others are stuck behind, they blow up and the remaining player has to wack them to make them active again! Didn't really it would be about teamwork in a video game but it's great. I love the graphics, the wacky characters, and the crazy stages and secret passage ways. I highly recommend this game to help get through those long cold winter days.
