Awsome work form a great and mysterious band!!!,

Brujeria is a side-project made by members of Fear Factory, Faith no More, Napalm Death and Down by Law.Let me tell you, the lyrics (if you can understand them) are very disturbing and talk about racisism against mexicans, civil wars, satan, sex, satan, drug-dealing, satan, masturbation and satan,(did I mention this guys pretend to be devil-workshippers that smuggle drugs all across the border?). Every song rocks! Just listen to tracks like "La raza odiada", "La migra", "El patron" and "Padre nuestro"and you'll realize why this CD gives all my friends the creeps.Do not take the lyrics too seriously, this great band is merely a joke.

This review is from: Raza Odiada (Audio CD)
This is brujeria's second and best album.I have heard all of brujeria's work and I can honestly say that I liked this one the best. All the songs are faster and heavier than the ones on matando guerros. Not to mention that the sound production on this album is alot better than matando guerros.Enough said,go out and get this today if you dont already have it.BRUJERIA RULES!!!

I gonna tell whoever is stupid that these guys aren't who they say they are. They are not mexican drug smugglers who worship satan and slaughter smurphs. They are members of Fear Factory(dino Cazeres, Ray Herrera), Faith no more(Bill Gould), Napalm Death, DOwn by law, and other bands. Which makes this band hilarious. The music is really tight which i love, the death metal vocals are the best i've heard. It isn't just a low, unfeeling growl, it's an empassioned, almost freddy krueger. this is a good metal album to any hardcore metal fan's collection.

mid 90's summer of love,
This review is from: Raza Odiada (Audio CD)
I remember sitting with my friend out front of our retail job smoking & just laughing about how ridiculously insane this concept of a band was.It was mid 90's we used to scare the hell out of all the white boys that couldnt understand a word that was spoken & the deliberately demented noise didnt help none.It was all a joke like most hip hop rappers that claim to be street, well these metalheads claim to be cocaine traffiking gringo murdering satanist!Back then there was not much known about the band so it made it more controversial within the metal community.Even had an article on a mexican newspaper showing them covering thier faces a'la Marcos with bandanas or ski masks that made them look like actual underground druglords.Once it was known that it was a collaboration of members from other metal bands, the group started doing local shows & man was it worth the wait, and guess what! It was full of gringos too as well as latinos just shows how music is universal. But in this genre its all about heavy riffs, thick bass & who can come up with the most blasphemous lyrics, well here you have it all, best part you cant understand it & ONCE you do understand what their are saying it'll make you wish you didnt. Now I dont know anyone that righteously consider theirself a metalhead & not know this band. It was like listening to Sabbath in the 70's I persume.OH GOD NOOOooo!

Janitor-x has done a great job of explaining what this cd is. If you liked the Brujeria from "Matando Gueros," expect almost none of that. However, what you do get is highly enjoyable thrash, with just a tinge of death metal. I also don't speak Spanish, but was able to enjoy this immensely.

Muerte!,

Music is a mood thing. Some days, the ethereal sounds of a New Age forest soundscape or the precisely orchestrated power of a Beethoven symphony fit the mood. Other days however, nothing but sick grinding Death Metal will do the job. For a totally mindless Death fix, Brujeria's "Raza Odiada" is hard to beat.
The mysterious Mexican based supergroup makes absolutely no compromise to subtlety whatsoever. There's no room for melody, harmony, or even much common sense. Other than a spoken intro by Jello Biafra, the entire album is performed in garbled Spanish. It's pretty difficult for a non-Spanish speaker to figure out what is going on, but it's immediately obvious to speakers of any language that it is unsavoury, brutal, and more than a little tongue in cheek. It is possible to glean a little meaning from some of the tracks though. "La Migra" actually had a video made for it, with English subtitles. It is about the treatment Mexican illegal immigrants get when trying to sneak into the United States. Apparently, the US Immigration Service isn't afraid to beat anyone, including grandmothers and the mentally infirm. "Padre Nuestro" is a new version of a song which first appeared as a seven inch single and appeared on the `At Death's Door II' compilation. Juan Brujo and his crew learned how to play their instruments a little better than on the band's 1993 debut, the delightfully chaotic `Matando Gueros'. They must have also made a killing in the narcotics underworld too, because the production sounds clearer too. A number of the songs are sequels to those from the first album, but the vital spontaneity of the band is retained. It's impossible to pick up more than a few words here and there, and while the songs are hardly identical to one another, there is also little to be gained from trying to distinguish one track from another. Brujeria's music is a mess, but you probably knew that before you picked up the album. Enjoy it for what it is - mindless fun.

Every time I listen to this hilarious supergroup, I cant stop laughing. It's just something about death metal sung in Spanish that makes it funny. They even threw in some Bull-fighting shrieks in one of their songs. Altogether, Raza Odiada's got some REALLY badass music on it, you'll recognize the Fear Factory vibe on many songs. My only complaint is (in my humble opinion) the vocals are at times too comical/corny to get into (you'll have to stop moshing to laugh). In any case I highly recomend the album but like any album would suggest a preview listen beforehand so you know exactly what you're getting.

This is a really good album for people who aren't afraid of being taken to extremes by a band who knows how to do it. Properly. And don't mistake the sense of humour display for a "joke" band. This is balls-to-the-wall stuff. If you like your metal intense and unadulterated, don't hesitate, just buy.
