So, the Razer Anansi really is sheer brilliance. It's not JUST 5 macro buttons, its actually a totally of 12 because the thumb modifiers can be assigned to do anything. Everyone has been complaining about sticky keys, dim backlighting, and just the overall quality of the board... I have to disagree... I've owned many mechanical boards from Rosewill to Ducky, and I can in fact say that this being a Rubber Dome doesn't make my fingers cry and bleed. As a matter of fact, I enjoy typing on it. The keys have a nice travel distance and have an odd tactile response... not that of a mechanical but you KNOW when you press the key from what appears to be a slight flick inside.

I will continue this review by discussing some of the attributes.

Anti Ghosting- Up to 6 keys. I have about 4 keyboards that anti ghost on all 100+ keys... I dont really tell a difference. I have five fingers when playing a game, and even when typing I don't mash the word "Bonerific" all at the same time... even if it was possible. Either way, the anti ghosting on this is fine and reliable. I have yet to die from a anti ghosting issue.

Backlight- It's fine. I had a problem with the Blackwidow Ultimate that it was TOO bright, this is just perfect. It's bright enough where it isn't in my vision, but to where if I am playing in the dark and I need to find the placement of a key, I just look down and instantly find it. It has the ability of 16 million colors, so I have mine on something very unique... a Baby Blue, and I have it set to when I play different games it switches color. So COD is army green, WoW is a Epic Purple, and everything else Baby blue.

Programming- Really, Razer always does well with this. I still wish you didn't have to delete an ENTIRE macro to record it, but oh well I will live. EVERY key is programmable. So I have my center row of buttons set to some macros for games and arrow keys to some moar macros. SO to be honest,, If I were to disable every key after G, i would have about 50 macro buttons... no joke.

OVERALL- Very nice board. Only con is it doesnt have extra USB ports, but hell, My PC is right next to me so it didn't bother me. If it bothers you, then get Cyborg keyboard, I personally hate the fact I can only program 10 Keys and not all, but I guess you get what you pay for. The Anansi doesn't disappoint- for the FPS gamer and the MMO. I make use of the thumb modifiers in Quake in CSS even, hell, it would prove useful in SC2 as well. I've read issues about its endurance over time, but I am assuming its just a persons maintenance of the board, because my friend has had his since release and he uses it about 50 Hours a week and the thing is still working perfectly. He does wash his hands alot (EVERY GAMER SHOULD), and doesn't eat or drink anything but water over it.

ASIDE FROM THIS- BUY IT!!!!!!! ITS SOOPA NICE.

Razer Anansi = Brilliant March 18, 2011
Brought this to match my Epic Razer Naga Mouse. works as advertised. Had no problems with the lighting or function so far. easy to use and easy to program macros if your into that thing. Brilliant for the game I play, Eve Online. Using those extra buttons for my media to play, Vent, Fraps, Taking screenshots and making sure that my weapon and target locking also corresponds to the key shortcuts I like. Very stoked with my purchase. I did buy it through Razer the company itself but I think its worth my time to pump up the good rep for this too.

Background: I was excited to learn about the Razer Anansi, and followed its release carefully. However, I held off buying it as the first reviews did not seem positive. So I waited, and waited, and waited...until I finally picked one up this past October. When I plugged it in, I played it for about a week and then put my old keyboard back on. I remember thinking to myself, 'Why would I need so many keybindings? Surely I can just use Shift and CTRL and I'll be all set.'

However, after returning to my old keyboard, I noticed how much of an advantage the Anansi had given me in dungeons, in raids, in PvP, and pretty much every aspect of gameplay. The way I set my UI up complemented the Anansi's T1-T5 buttons, and allowed me to put all the skills I'd need on the screen, as well as some others, like fishing and my professions (instead of going through the spellbook).

There is a learning curve associated with using this keyboard, but it is no longer or different than the learning curve for using the Naga. Just practice and within a few hours you'll start getting the hang of it. Get this keyboard...you won't regret it!

Pros: 1. Backlighting: The backlighting changes color by default and looks sharp. It could be a bit brighter, but it's nice looking.
2. Sound and Feel: The keys have a comfortable amount of resistance when pushing them and a sound that won't drive you crazy.
3. Software: The Razer Anansi software allows you to reconfigure and map the keyboard anyway you'd like. I turn off my T1-T7 keys when I am not playing World of Warcraft so I don't press them and do something strange.
4. Razer Naga: Playing with the Anansi and Naga (MMO mouse)is an amazing combination and really allows you to react quickly to any situation.

Cons: There are really none, aside from the price (I'm cheap) and the learning curve. Whereas I thought that I'd end up returning the keyboard, I grew accustomed to it and it really has improved my gameplay.
