Customer Reviews

Sometimes the keys press fine, other times you push the keys and the letters do not register.

Razer support is trying to tell me I need to take it back, but... I took this back TWO TIMES (= 3 keyboards) and got the same problems with 2 others on different keys.

I would definitely recommend getting refurbished if you want a great gaming keyboard and you are looking to go cheaper!

I've had the Anansi for over a year now and it is just FANTASTIC. I bought this keyboard to help with my transition from a solid year of straight clicking on spells in MMO games to the mysterious land of key binding. I am a female player, I have very small hands and what I like to call "weak pinkies". Getting my little pinky finger to the typical modifier buttons and finding the strength in it to mash them when needed was disheartening in my efforts to learn to efficiently key bind and use key binds competitively in MMO games. I saw the Anansi and thought it would give me the edge I needed, and well... I was right! I re-mapped the T3 button to space(jump) so that I could keep my thumb down there all the time. Then I changed the T4, T5, and T7 to the basic modifiers Ctrl, Alt, and Ctrl+Alt. Wow, what a world of difference this has made in my game play, reaction time, and my ability to set key binds that are extremely efficient. This allowed me to create key binds that are comfortable for my small hands, easy to access quickly, and definitely spamable (IE: raid). This keyboard combined with the Razer Naga... omg just endless efficiency. You can get lost in key bind land with those two.

After a year of heavy use, this keyboard is in excellent condition and works/looks like new! While the back of it does show wear and tear, the front is flawless. I have dropped it from my desk or from my lap at least a hundred times, I have traveled with it on a weekly basis back and forth a few times a week, I have eaten over it daily, I've played with sticky fingers, I've played all nighters, I've stuck stickers on it to help me memorize key binds, I've cleaned it a gazillion times with windex and I can hear crumbs moving around in the keyboard...

So, the Razer Anansi really is sheer brilliance. It's not JUST 5 macro buttons, its actually a totally of 12 because the thumb modifiers can be assigned to do anything. Everyone has been complaining about sticky keys, dim backlighting, and just the overall quality of the board... I have to disagree... I've owned many mechanical boards from Rosewill to Ducky, and I can in fact say that this being a Rubber Dome doesn't make my fingers cry and bleed. As a matter of fact, I enjoy typing on it. The keys have a nice travel distance and have an odd tactile response... not that of a mechanical but you KNOW when you press the key from what appears to be a slight flick inside.

I will continue this review by discussing some of the attributes.

Anti Ghosting- Up to 6 keys. I have about 4 keyboards that anti ghost on all 100+ keys... I dont really tell a difference. I have five fingers when playing a game, and even when typing I don't mash the word "Bonerific" all at the same time... even if it was possible. Either way, the anti ghosting on this is fine and reliable. I have yet to die from a anti ghosting issue.

Backlight- It's fine. I had a problem with the Blackwidow Ultimate that it was TOO bright, this is just perfect. It's bright enough where it isn't in my vision, but to where if I am playing in the dark and I need to find the placement of a key, I just look down and instantly find it. It has the ability of 16 million colors, so I have mine on something very unique... a Baby Blue, and I have it set to when I play different games it switches color. So COD is army green, WoW is a Epic Purple, and everything else Baby blue.

Programming- Really, Razer always does well with this.

When you read this review, please pay attention to the number of missing letters from words. I will not correct the review in order to prove a point. Sometimes the keys press fine, other times you push the keys and the letters do not register. I am about to jun this keyboard based on number of times I have to go back an insert letters into emails and searches. Some times auto correct is a help and adds the letters, as I noticed in this review. Othertimes, it completely changes the word.

The extra buttons below the spacebar have been useless to me and my gaming, so I sit them off. Sometimes, when playing games, the keys (specifically the W key) will stop responding and my helicopter will fall from the sky or my character will stop running for no reason.

I can not stress enough how much of a piece of crap this keyboard is. I bought it new and regret it every time I ue it.

Brought this to match my Epic Razer Naga Mouse. works as advertised. Had no problems with the lighting or function so far. easy to use and easy to program macros if your into that thing. Brilliant for the game I play, Eve Online. Using those extra buttons for my media to play, Vent, Fraps, Taking screenshots and making sure that my weapon and target locking also corresponds to the key shortcuts I like. Very stoked with my purchase. I did buy it through Razer the company itself but I think its worth my time to pump up the good rep for this too.

I wanted a gaming keyboard that was trim, had good response, and total programming flexibility. The Anansi does this well. It feels good under the hand, springy instead of mushy, for all that it's not mechanical keyswitches. But the real joy is that I have multiple profiles set up that I can switch to by pressing any thumbkey or left edge macro key I've chosen:

- Left handed qwerty where a thumb key switches from left side to mirrored right side typing so I don't need to lift my hand from the mouse to chat
- Colemak, which I'm learning
- Programming, where the thumb "alt" key instead offers the whole qwerty keyboard for the otherwise awkwardly placed symbols

Kudo's to amazon for taking the also-ran keyboard back gracefully.

The one star removed was for the Anansi's habit of trying to log in every time I turn the computer on. I can bypass this, but for making updates, they want to store it on their website instead of my computer, which I don't like, but put up with in return for such great keyboard functionality.
