Excellent mousepad!,

This review is from: Razer ExactMat Anodized Aluminum Mousing Surface (Personal Computers)
This mousepad is super-sensitive and much more accurate for any task where precision is important. The speed side works great for games or general use and the control side is great for when the small details count such as using graphics or drawing programs. The mat is aluminum so it doesn't warp or get "bumpy" like some of the rubber ones do. It's also easy to clean. The mat works great with the Razer Diamondback mice from the same company but it also works great with a Microsoft Intellimouse opticcal mouse. One thing to keep in mind is that it's about 50% wider than a typical mousepad. This is great for not running off the edge of the mousepad, but does require a desktop to have a bit more space. SOLD SEPERATELY (at RazerZone): The gel-filled wrist rest is similarly extra wide to provide good wrist support. Very highly recommended!

Great for the first month,
This review is from: Razer ExactMat Anodized Aluminum Mousing Surface (Personal Computers)
I have been using this with my G5 for about a month now. Up 'til now I have loved it for CS:S. But now the speed side is getting worn and there is a lot of friction with it and the mouse skates. I held it up to a light and I can see that the top layer is wearing away. I wouldn't recommend this for a gamer that plays a lot, it will wear out after a month or two.

Accurate & Responsive, But.....,

The ExactMat is very responsive and mouse movements are extremely accurate. The item comes at a very reasonable price. I was very happy with it for the first few months. There are four thin rubber pieces which sit in the corners on each side of the mat, eight pieces total. They hold the mat onto the surface it is placed on. After 2 months one of the rubber pieces came loose. To date (5 months after purchase) 3 of the 8 pieces have come off. This has rendered one side of the mat off balance and useless. It is no longer under Amazons return policy. I am in the process of contacting Razer customer service. I doubt I would purchase this product again. ***Update: Just heard back from Razer customer "support". Razer does not supply replacemant parts for their products.***

Pretty simple decision, if you don't have one, get one. The Exactmat is the "only" mouse pad you should be using. I got so tired of the neoprene type pads, 1. they get dirty, 2. they come apart, 3. lots of mouse drag 4. they are too small. Once you own the ExactMat you will wonder why you ever used anything else and why it took you so long to put down the extra few bucks it takes to get one. Even though the ExactMat is more than two times more expensive than the "neoprene" type pads, it is by far the best bang for you buck in mouse pads. I am a CAD engineer with lots and lots of mouse time, I demand as close to effortless mouse sailing as I can get and the ExactMat is a joy to use. Am I over the edge, maybe, (don't tell anyone but I also sprayed both the ExactMat and the bottom of my mouse with silicone spray and then wipe it off for almost frictionless clicking). Bottom line: this is a great product and I can't imagine any user that would not benefit from using one.

Nice but flawed,

Although this product seems great, with the large size, substantial weight, and dual coatings it has one major flaw. The mouse I'm using, MX700, does not track properly on it. Neither side does. And oddly the rough side seems to offer less resistance on the mouse motion.

Good surface, strange shape, pricey,

Owned for about a month now, not sure if I'd buy another one. It's basically an aluminum plate with two different mousing surfaces on each side, as well as 4 rubber non-skid pads (one in each corner per side). The Exact Mat side, which I prefer, is a semi-glossy black polymer surface. It feels a little bumpy at first but my Habu mouse glides smoothly and precisely on it. The Speed Mat side is almost like a flat-black matte spray-painted surface. It sounds and feels a bit more scratchy than the other side, and also shows finger oil any time a greasy hand touches it. Can't say that I really notice a difference of speed/precision using either side, both seem to control as well and the same. Probably more of a personal preference and you probably won't find yourself flipping this over much. My biggest complaint is its shape and size. It's overly big, and its odd shape doesn't seem to serve any purpose other than to annoy. To butt it up against my keyboard and allow my wrist to sit comfortably on it, it's turned (logo) upside down. It looks silly in any position with the corners stretched out, but having upside down it looks like it has horns on the top. I give it 2 stars simply because the Exact control side is a great mouse surface for any mouse with Teflon pads on the bottom. On the flip side, the shape/size makes it a pain to fit on your desk, and you'll probably only use one side of the mouse pad once you've found your favorite.

I'm not one to buy an accessory like this (especially when its counterparts can be purchased for next to nothing), but the fact of the matter is that my 2000 DPI Razer Copperhead mouse is too precise for regular cloth mouse pads. I was tired of dealing with the "skippy" pointer movement so I decided to give my mouse's relative, the Razer ExactMat, a try. My pointer movement is now "smooth" and I couldn't be happier with this product.

Before buying it, know that this mousepad doesn't work with Laser mice. And that it will severely cripple the range of a Wireless mouse.Otherwise, the shape is cool and it feels solid.
