I was pleasantly pleased once I received my razer imperator 2012 in February 2012. I liked the ergonomics, it tracked well and I was pleased with the on the fly DPS changes. I had some issues with bumpy tracking but dealt with it.

My pleasance was then replaced with pain, when my top button quit working. Also the tracking got worse. It was similar to an old track ball mouse that was dirty. I called razer and they said they would have someone contact me via email. The email hassle began. After about 3 weeks of repetitive email correspondence. I found that I would have to pay for return shipping for their defective product!

After speaking with supervisors, via email, it seemed the only way to speak with one, I realized there was no way around and I agreed to pay shipping and requested an RMA. Two more weeks and I receive no reply. I email again and they said they sent me an RMA and sent me the copy of one. By this time the RMA which lasts for 30 days is expiring. I email again and ask for a new one, I get the same script that they would handle it. The product is ok when working, but if you have a problem, it switches to another company. One that seems happy to get your money but turns it head once you have a problem. I am still awaiting the RMA. I was going to purchase a razer keyboard, but I am not happy with customer service. So I am looking at alternatives to razer.

If you have a razer and it works well for you I am happy for you. But, I feel for you if you have to deal with customer service.

After years of using an MX500 series mouse from Logitech, I decided to see if I could find one I liked better. In the months that followed, I tried out a number of mice, including the RAT9, the Xornet/Spawn, the Vengeance M60, the G700, the Sidewinder, and the Mamba. I remember being very picky, but then I had to be in order to get the level of comfort I was used to. Anyway, I was about to give up when I happened upon the Imperator. I decided it would be the last one I'd try out - and it was. Still is!

While the last generation Imperator was superb, there was a tracking issue that kept rearing its ugly head while gaming. There were other little annoyances that I learned to live with, such as the slick plastic grip that felt oily until it became coated with dirt and dead skin from my fingers. The new 2012 version was a breath of fresh air that made me wanna shout from the rooftops after just a few minutes of use. As a gamer, I realize that gaming niche products are not always of the best quality. The Imperator turns that sentiment on its head. It is indeed the most awesome mouse I've ever used - not only for gaming, but for graphic design work and everyday use as well. Nothing I've used comes close to matching its comfort and functionality. Kudos to Razer for an excellent product!

UPDATE: July 18, 2012:

You can access the Razer Imperator Configurator in OSX.

Applications>Razer Imperator 2012

I originally thought it was in the System Preferences. It is not. Then I went into the Razer Synapse 2.0 which is their cloud software that contains all the settings for all the Razer Products you buy, but the Imperator 2012 isn't supported by Razer Synapse 2.0, even though it has Synapse Onboard Functions. Go figure.

No where in any of the Razer Imperator Manuals does it tell you where to go to access the Imperator Configurator in OSX.

I own the Razer Naga and was excited about the Imperator 2012 because of it's features.

I'm a cinematographer, so I use the mouse for mostly video editing. I'm still an avid StarCraft II fan. The mouse precision is important to my line of work and for gaming.

I run Windows on my desktop and own a Macbook Pro. The Naga is great. I love it on my desktop so much that I used it with my MBP, but got tired of transferring around the mouse. So it made sense that I simply purchase a second mouse for the laptop. The Imperator 2012 looked promising so I bought it and it works fine.

The box on the Razer Imperator says it works for OSX. It doesn't. Even with the latest drivers, there is no way to access the built in Synapse system to change any of the settings. You can still use the mouse, you just can't chance any of the options with regards to DPI.

You can go to a PC and change it from there and when you plug it back into any OSX, it will be set. But there is no way to do it if you ONLY have a Mac.

I reached out to Razer Support and their answer to me was "Download the latest driver" even AFTER I already stated that I have the latest driver.

I've purchased this mouse coming from a Deathadder, which is an absolute perfect mouse if you are an avid gamer. With the new 4G sensor, tracking seems to be pretty much fixed on the new Imperator. The only problem I am having currently is that the acceleration is automatically switching on. Once I figure out how to disable that for good or if there are new drivers out to fix this problem, I will have absolutely no complaints. Lightweight, ergonomic, most comfortable mouse I have ever used. Comparable to the MX518 I fell in love with a long time ago before it died.

Razer is improving their products.. if you haven't checked it out yet, go do it.

**EDIT** I was able to disable the auto acceleration through the software and the mouse is nothing short of perfect now.
