Your opponents have evolved. The time has come to upgrade your equipment and prepare for the next battle.

What is APM?
APM stands for Action per Minute. It is a measure of how many clicks and key presses a gamer can do per minute with his mouse and keyboard.

Why is APM important?
APM is important because it measures your speed with which you're able to give out new commands. It is therefore a good indicator of the control over your game you have in terms of both micro and macromanagement.

What would be a standard APM?
For beginners an APM of around 40-60 is not uncommon. More experienced players will have between 100-150. Professional players have around 300 APM with some exceptions even exceeding that.

What is effective APM?
Effective APM or eAPM is a more accurate way of measuring APM, as it only counts those clicks/key presses that actually issue a command as opposed to standard APM, which counts every single click and key press.

How does the APM-Lighting System work?
The APM-Lighting System is part of all our StarCraft II Peripherals. StarCraft II measures your effective actions per minute (APM) in-game and our peripherals will draw that data and will change lighting accordingly. In addition to that it will also register any in-game alerts like "Base under attack" or "Unit Built" and each of the alerts can have individual lighting settings that will be reflected on your peripherals.

Excellent SC II Keyboard December 22, 2010

I hesitated before purchasing this keyboard primarily due to the negative reviews associated with it; however, let me be clear that this keyboard delivers a fluid and comfortable gaming experience and delivers on a number of features.

Durability - There is not one piece of this keyboard that feels like it is made from cheap materials. The keys have a nice rubber texture that provides comfortable key strokes, and the enlcosure itself feels like a sturdy "Marauder" metal alloy. The key presses are nice and responsive but not overly "springy".

Aesthetics - The overall look of the keyboard is un-rivaled. The back-lit keyboard looks great and the key values are easily legible when in a completely dark room. The four additional edge lights add a nice glow effect, and when combined with SC II, the APM lighting is easily the best integrated feature for a game I have ever seen. The keyboard looks like something that could be ripped right out of the Starcraft universe.

Functionality - Although it lacks the full size of most standard keyboards as some other reviewers have clearly and sometimes angrily pointed out, the keyboard does not lack any of the functionality that any full sized keyboard provides. The only major difference is that Home, End, Page Up, Page Dn, Ins, Del and the arrow keys have been merged into the right number keypad with the ability to toggle what functionality the keyboard uses either number pad or not.

In summary, this keyboard provides an excellent piece of hardware for an already great piece of software. One thing to note, if you are expecting all the bells and whistles of a multimedia keyboard you are looking in the wrong place, but just because a peripheral doesn't offer everything you thought it did (or should), maybe that is an indicator that you (the consumer) should do a little more research before purchasing an item and then giving a poor review.

i'm very happy with the marauder keyboard. the feel of the keys is solid, they have a very nice and tactile feel, not slick, more of a rubbery coating. the weight of the keyboard allows it to sit very firmly in place. the lighting is a very fun option. the apm stock settings are pretty high, i'd say if you weren't at pro gamer status you would never be hitting the 300 apm color. the user settings allow for the customization of the colors. i was pleasantly surprised with the other features it provided, options such as lighting up when your buildings are under attack, lighting up as buildings complete, overall adding to the enjoyment of the game. the macro programming is pretty simple as well, name the macro, type in the key sequence, and assign it to a key (for example i assigned F1 to "probe production" and made the macro "3, b, e"). i am currently using it with a mac and found the installation very simple.

a few things to note, this keyboard has 2 usb connectors, 1 for they keyboard and 1 for the lighting. the lighting is solid with 3 options which satisfied my computer geek LED need. also there is no designated up, left, right, down arrow keyset, its integrated into the number pad. so if you have num lock on you won't be able to navigate with the arrow. also as mentioned in the other review, yes it is always blue if you are not playing sc2. as mentioned i use with with my imac so just a note the software driver installs to the SYSTEM PREFERENCES under OTHER unlike other razer products where it extracts to APPLICATIONS.

overall, i think its a great product if you are a starcraft fan, it has definitely added to my enjoyment of the game.

great product April 1, 2011

I just got my sc2 keyboard in the mail and this thing is awesome, the keys are firm but press in rather easily and have a nice texture to them. and it seems to be a very solid piece that wont fall apart or slide around easily, and it is on the heavy side considering its small size but that helps keep it in place. Many people were complaining about the small length of the keyboard i personally prefer it because it keeps everything tighter and closer together, this really comes in handy in the game. However the letters themselves are no closer together than any other keyboard ive had in the past. And the lighting on the keyboard is also 100% customizable, there are about 25 differnt colors to choose from, and you can select 3 different colors total at a time, there are top, bottom and side lights that are also customizable, in and out of the game! just d/l the keyboard configurator from the website. And To all the people bashing the keyboard and giving it a bad review because its "too small." maybe you should read the product description next time where it clearly states each and every dimension! and if you personally want a keyboard thats bigger and blacker then go for it! dont buy something that you dont like because you dont know how to read. gg NO re
