Great Mouse for certain tastes, May 28, 2009
This review is from: Razer Salmosa 1800dpi Infrared Gaming Mouse (Personal Computers)
Razer Salmosa 1800dpi Infrared Gaming Mouse
First off, Razer mice has been growing in popularity among gamers because of their solid products and strong reputation. They offer various gaming mice and peripherals to suit the needs of casual gamers to more experienced or expert gamers.
Previously I used a logitech wheelman mouse (ballmouse) until it broke and have gone through a few other mice before landing on the Salmosa. Some include Logitech g5, and razer Deathadder. I found that the logitech g5 and deathadder suited a palm type grip and it didn't fit my style. They felt too big in my hands (I have small-medium hands) and too heavy. The Salmosa is Razer's entry level mouse but I prefer it over their more costly mice because of how small it is. It fits my 'finger-tip' grip style perfectly and is extremely fast and smooth. The buttons are big and easy to press but not too easy (weight of hand will not accidentally press button) and it makes a defined clicking sound. The top surface has a matte rubberized finish that feels excellent and smooth to the touch. The scroll is more hard to roll than other mice I've used which is what I prefer since I really hate overscrolling in weapon menus.
I'm currently using the mouse with a Razer Goliathus speed edition mouse pad and it glides SO smooth I'm really digging it. I don't think I'm going to change mice for a very long time. I mainly play FPS, CS:S and the mouse is extremely smooth and headshots have become a norm (mouse doesn't make the player but it definitely helps). The liftoff distance is quite low so it won't be a problem for low-sensitivity players. ONLY get this mouse if you use a finger-tip style grip because it is smaller than the average mouse. If this is what you're looking for, don't hesitate!! It hasn't let me down yet.

-So it's almost been a year since I purchased this mouse and I'm glad to say it's stood the test of time! I've played around 5-10 hours a week with this for the past year and it's still as good as before. There is some slight wear in the smooth coated surface but that's a given since I've easily clocked 500+ hours with this bad boy. I use it for normal applications and it works just great!
Have confidence in this mouse, it's never let me down!

Salmosa Rocks!, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Razer Salmosa 1800dpi Infrared Gaming Mouse (Personal Computers)
This is the best mouse I have ever used. I've had Microsoft, Logitech and even a Razer Death Adder mice, Salmosa is my favorite to date. I play RTS games but mostly Starcraft. This is the most accurate, lightest mouse on the market. No drivers make the set up very simple, plug and play. All of the settings are on dip swtiches on the bottom of the mouse. Hope this review helps. SALMOSA FIGHTING!!

Great Mouse, November 17, 2009
This review is from: Razer Salmosa 1800dpi Infrared Gaming Mouse (Personal Computers)
This is a very good mouse for just about any task, not just gaming. Its well shaped, has a soft touch grip, long finger buttons, and a nice sturdy scroll wheel. Everything operates with a nice, confident click or snick. It is very lightweight, and moves across the mouse pad very easily for this reason. Its also very smooth, thanks to the super slippery "glide pads" used on the bottom of the mouse.
The Razer is comfortable for everyday use doing everyday tasks, and I don't find it too small as others have. In fact its longer then my basic Logitech mouse, if not quite as high and egg shaped. It is a very precise mouse, and for that reason is great for gaming if you don't need too many buttons available at your fingertips. This is a 3 button mouse, so is outstanding for first person shooters.
The grip is excellent and the shape very comfortable. You can increase speed and accuracy by flipping switches on the bottom of the mouse (for dpi and polling, respectively), and best yet...it really works. Better speed and accuracy is notable, but it won't make you a better gamer, exactly. Being my first "gaming" mouse what it does do in my estimation is make gaming a smoother, tighter, and more confident experience. Think of it like this...in real life you can aim and shoot at a target and hit it with an ok weapon. But with a great weapon you can aim and shoot and be sure you got the best shot off possible each and every time. You can feel and discern the difference from a lower quality weapon. And this let's you know you are doing the best job possible.
Its the same feeling with this mouse when gaming. It just feels better, plays better, and for a basic 3 button gaming mouse, is in my opinion better then many others with more buttons for its convenient "on the fly" performance features. Its like a Honda when you want it to be and a Ferrari when you need it to be. It also comes with easy to use software to make default performance adjustments (left handed gamers can switch button assignments), and the packaging is first rate. If that matters.
Very nice buy.
