4.0 out of 5 stars Melodic techno industrial music
Razing Eden is not the hard-edged industrial rock of the more recent Luxt release, Chromasex Monkeydrive. Instead, this album blends techno and industrial styles with lush vocals and interesting lyrics. 2.0 out of 5 stars I Agree With Brett Packer!
Dont bother wasting your money on this Luxt cd. I dont really like both Anna Christine and Erie Loch singing on one song, like they do on this cd............. I really recommend Chromasex Monkeydrive. Buy this cd if you listened to clips of the songs on this cd and you like it............though that probably wont happen.

I found it to be an excellent disc overall; though their production has improved since Razing Eden, their music was near the height of sublime techno industrial brilliance with this release. Lies of Angels will always be one of my favorite songs, this album is one I can come back to again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars LUXT gets better and better with each release!!, May 22, 2003

This review is from: Razing Eden (Audio CD)
LUXT has fine tuned their unique style on this second release, both Anna Christine and Erie Loch have developed an even broader range to spread their talented vocals across. A little more techno-metal than their first CD, Dispair, they still defy classification by crossing genres smoother than any other band has been able to do; call it Industrial or Rock or Metal or Thrash or Techno, they manage to fit the mold on every one. I can't say enough good things about this extrememly talented group, I am HOOKED.
Quick summary of this CD:

1-WITCHHUNT - Some booming drums and deep solid bass, with Anna and Erie switching vocals. Good song.

2-PARASITES - Quicker than Witchhunt, also with some good musical interludes inbetween lyrics.

3-SPITE - Not one of my favorites, I don't particularly like the tune, but Anna showcases her vocals by hitting some high notes clear as a bell, and the lyrics are good. "This fire in my crotch contorts my core." -hey, you gotta like that line.

4-ZERO - Some deep, almost chanting type singing from Erie against some great solo drums in a short stretch towards the end.

5-CLEANSER - Fast beat, but I'm kind of indifferent about this one. Not one of their best.

6-TECHNOCHRIST - Not one of my favorites, repetative beat and probably the most "on the edge of what will be tolerated" lyrics.

7-LIES OF ANGELS - Again, not one of my favorites. I find it kind of slow moving compared to what they are capable of, and like Technochrist is a lyrically dark track.

8-KASHMIR - No one will ever be able to duplicate Kashmir like Led Zepplin, but LUXT does a really great job paying tribute to one of my favorite Zepplin songs. Much better than that awful semi remix done with Page & Puff. (yuck!)

9-SNOWBLIND ENTROPHY - Starts with a delicately creepy solo from Anna, then kicks in some drums and Erie singing deep and clear, then turns into something you can dance to. Great vocals on this one!

10-PERPETUSEX - Kind of slow, but wait! On American Beast there is a live remix of this song that's AWESOME!

11-PARASITES REMIX - A club beat picks up this already good tune.

12-CLEANSER [EGAMORPH MIX] - Still not one of my favorites, even remixed.

13-TAR - Quick beat, great lyrics!

14-BLISS - Faster than Tar, a little rougher, great lyrics. "So if you are so ... wise, Intelligent and filled with power, then prove your not what I see you as, a worthless weak denying coward." Cool.

15-WITCHHUNT [ANIMOO MIX] - Interesting remix of Witchhunt, not rougher but softer, with a vague echo. Great!

16-UNTITLED TRACK (I call it HEAVENS BENT) - slow, creepy, gerat solo track for Erie.

Again, there really isn't a song on this CD I don't like, I just have favorites like everyone else. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars LUXT, December 2, 2000

Luxt is a sacramento-based band that has an industrial-ish sound. Razing Eden is really a great cd, particularly "snowblind entropy","spite" and "technochrist" And the mixture of male and female vocals is particularly enjoyble.
